I'm totally jelly!!!!!

It has its perks!

Going off of that, if anyone going to both wants any deets from the half day they have to miss due to the overlap, I'm happy to share my observations!
I'd love to hear what I miss. I'm doing the Columbia/NYU overlap too. Really wish they could have scheduled them in a row without any overlap!
Part of me thinks it's a subtle part of the Columbia vs NYU feud

For some reason, I thought I read somewhere that we could stay with current students, but now I can't find that in any of my information. I think I may be getting all of the information jumbled together.
Timantha wrote:I haven't read anywhere that you could stay with current students, but I did receive an email from a student organization at NYU (APALSA) offering to find me a student host. No such offer from Columbia, though, so even if I take NYU's offer, I'll probably have to get a hotel room for one night to attend Columbia Day 1. Ideally, I wish I could find another girl to split a hotel room with during the whole trip, but everyone here seems to be going to the early March one...

Also, Columbia offers admitted students to stay with on their website. You have to contact the students directly. But they ask that you only stay a max of two nights with those students, so you would have to find separate accommodations for NYU if you're doing them back to back.

It will be cool for so many of us to be at the same ASWs! We will be unknowingly walking amongst each other. If you figure out who I am feel free to just come up to me and say "hi Hilde!"

I promise I won't think you're weird.

^ This exactly! I couldn't help but imagine that it might have something to do with Columbia and NYU being just a little bit pouty towards each other

Ooh that's very helpful, thanks! Found the link on Columbia's admitted student website, derp

Speaking of overlapping days, I am going crazy over the fact that at least 6 of my schools are doing ASWs March 17-19 -- a weekend I'm already busy with a work trip. And yet there are basically no other ASW/ASDs that month! Someone schedule something for late February/early March, PLEASE.

Haven't heard from Columbia so don't know anything about their dates but assuming I get in I would like to be able to plan in advance!
Hey! Columbia's first one is March 2-3 and their second is March 30-31, so both of them overlap on the second day for Columbia/first day for NYU.

As someone who attends one of them as UG, I can definitely attest that there's constant shade being thrown between the two

Why is the name of all that is holy are these not WEEKENDS I cannot skip a week of school for this nonsense! Wow I'm super frustrated by this I just assumed it would be a Friday/Saturday, Saturday/Sunday thing
If I do actually go, my SO definitely can't, so I'll be searching for a roommate as well!

I think you should plan for Columbia- I'd be shocked if you didn't get accepted. Same for the SO thing - there's no way he can take off so many days at work so I'll be going solo.

Hey all! I know the cold weather dressing question came up a couple pages back, but does anyone have any insights into what to expect weather-wise in Chicago at the end of Feb?
I've heard it's been a "mild winter" and the forecast I'm seeing predicts temps in 20-30s. My main question is whether snow boots with good traction are a must or if I can get away with boots marketed as "waterproof" and wool socks

I grew up in Chicago and while late February is usually pretty cold, snow boots aren't really necessary. The city does get some snow, but it's usually not a ton and all of the streets/sidewalks should be plowed so you shouldn't have to walk in the snow at all. And like you mentioned, this year has been pretty mild so there might not be any snow at all. The cold can really be bitter though, so dress in layers and bring a warm coat and you'll be fine!

In further planning for the NYC admitted student days, noticed some more relevant info. Columbia offers up to $300 of travel reimbursement but in order to qualify for it you have to be there for all of Day 1 through 1:00 PM on Day 2. I feel like this is directly in reference to the NYU ASD starting at noon on Thursday!! Currently waiting to hear back from NYU about reimbursements as I didn't see anything on the website about it.

Also, look at how windy it will be. The wind can end up completely changing the feel of the cold.

Is it too soon to talk about the Good Wife ending? Has the shock worn off?
Let us raise our pints of ice cream and glass of wine. May the final episodes leave us satisfied.

Still in shock/mourning. Though perfect timing in a sense since I don't expect to have much time for TV as a 1L.

Hi everyone, I haven't posted here yet but have been following some of the conversation.
This breaks my heart!! I'm a few episodes behind but now I feel like I'm rationing them to last me a while. I definitely have gotten too emotionally invested in this series -lol- I caught all the feels when a certain someone's life was tragically ended, I felt like I was grieving an actual loss.
What other legal shows do you ladies watch?

Had to take a pause from watching the Good Wife in the middle of season five for obvious reasons. This has inspired me to keep going so I can see how it ends!!

Sometimes I just wish I'd stopped after Season 5... this season has been a huge let down for me, but I'm hopeful that the last half of the season will be better!
I've heard that there are some cast drama problems interfering. Archie (Calinda) had to leave because of beef with Julianna (Alicia), and I heard the same thing is happening with Christine (Diane) and Julianna and its crashing the whole show.

Yeah, that final green screening between Kalinda and Alicia was ridiculous. Man, who knew Margulies was such a drama queen?

I love "Suits." I plan to watch "Better Call Saul" in the next month or two.

I haven't watched Good Wife yet (next on my list!), but I loved Damages when it was on! And How to Get Away a With Murder is a guilty pleasure of mine, I'll admit
