I'm not sure how you call that watching a sport.

This is assuming that one is watching on TV. And soccer isn't without its marketing ridiculousness; the players are moving billboards. Also, I love soccer, but any sport that can be settled on what amounts to a skills competition event, is flawed imo. That said, it is nice to watch 45 or so continuous minutes of play.

You really lost me at the bolded part.

Also watching american football in person is even worse. You get the same shitty amount of play time and a much shittier view.

Agreed on marketing ridiculousness. My favorite example.

I was referring to penalties. Absolutely the worst way to settle a match, just like the shootout in hockey. Difference is that the most important games in hockey don't use the shootout, while in soccer the most important matches are the ones that use penalties to determine the winner. Sudden death or golden goal or whatever would be a better way to settle matches that are tied.

As far as the worse view, I guess it depends on the stadium. I don't think there's a bad seat in Michigan Stadium, and I enjoy being able to see the whole play develop vs. camera focused in on just where the ball is.
