Hey, $200 ain't too shabby. Will definitely plan the trip for ASW! Also St. Louis COL =scottidsntknow wrote:I think they were up to $200 last year, but it seems like this year they're more variable. Also totally come to an ASW if you can, that's when I ultimately made the choice to come here.JuanitaFromTheDiner wrote:I got one too! ("Partial travel award.") Haven't done anything yet. I figured I would save it for Admitted Students Weekend? On the Admitted Students site, it seems like the April weekend is full, but March will be opening up soon for RSVPs. Does anyone know how much is given? If not for ASW, when would be best to use it?smiles123 wrote:Got an email mentioning a travel award today and to call for more details. Otherwise if you're coming another time, I'd say earlier in the semester the better, since people will be less busy and can talk to you and you can get a sense of how school normally is. Kids were visiting on the last day of classes, and stuff like that/finals doesn't give you a good sense of the school or environment.
Also last year some current students ended up bringing me and other 0Ls to bar review which was great, so once asw rolls around people can feel free to meet up with us if they want and can get a better sense of how things go here.

^ I'm guessing this is still from last year - I don't think they've opened up reservations for either 2015 weekend yet, so you're probably fine for either March or April

Inordinately excited about the t-shirt! Really - I need a new sleep shirt.
Also, to get said shirt, you are asked if you'd like to be connected with a WashU faculty member/current student/alum. I figured it might be helpful to be connected with a current student. Anyone else do this already/any advice?
[Edited to include an exclamation point. Because I'm serious about that shirt.]

Did the prof/student/alumni thing last year. I talked to the alumni once or twice and the student a few times. They normally try to connect you with a student from your area, or that went to your undergrad, or something of that nature. I asked both some tough questions, and found both to be helpful, honest, insightful, etc. Def. do this if you get the chance. There is no downside and you will get more honest answers/advice than you would from admissions or CSO or someone like that.

Really helpful, thank you! I was thinking the same thing (ie, alumni/current student in my area.) One who went to my undergrad would actually be really interesting, too.LET'S GET IT wrote:JuanitaFromTheDiner wrote:Inordinately excited about the t-shirt! Really - I need a new sleep shirt.

Current WashU 1Ls - I promise not to flaunt the shirt.

I want a shirt! Also to be connected with a student/alum. Um I think admissions will be emailing people once they actually set all of that up, so I think if I were you I'd just wait

Just in case anyone knows, it is normal for WUSTL to take longer than two weeks to get back to you with an answer, when at the interview, they tell you that the wait will be two weeks at most?
Thanks

She told me she'd get my file to the committee "ASAP" and I didn't hear back for nearly four weeks (admitted). I wouldn't worry too much. They're busy.fekete wrote:Just in case anyone knows, it is normal for WUSTL to take longer than two weeks to get back to you with an answer, when at the interview, they tell you that the wait will be two weeks at most?
