You guys are so awesome--I feel a lot better knowing some of you ED-ers didn't hear back til day 15. Although, UVA is really trying to give people heart attacks this year, isn't it? The closer you drift to that number, the closer you get to auto-admit/auto-reject status. Even though I didn't think my numbers would put me at either extreme...but ah well, the wait continues.

Checking in. Just submitted ED, so hopefully everything goes complete quickly and I'll hear shortly thereafter.

Do they call/interview everyone they offer admissions to? Or mainly for ED/borderline/over-qualified/out-of-state people?
Anyone have no call and just receive an email acceptance or packet in the mail?
Would like to hear from VA in-state people too.

Has anyone else not heard anything yet? I applied late October and went completely shortly after but I still have not heard anything from them. I'm starting to get concerned about the interview because I wil be out of the country for the month of January.

I bolded the applicable parts for ease.mulhollanddrive wrote:Do they call/interview everyone they offer admissions to? Or mainly for ED/borderline/over-qualified/out-of-state people?

First, do they interview everyone? No. 99% of people who are offered admissions? Yes. Do they call everyone they offer admissions to? Yes.
Second, ED, yes they will more than likely get an interview if the adcomm is interested just like most RD applicants. Borderline/overqualified - this was more of the protocol employed by UVA in past cycles. This cycle, most everyone is getting an interview if they have a shot. Out of state status does not have a bearing on whether you receive an interview or not (in state does, as you are going against less applicants for more spots, speaking relatively).
Third, UVA calls applicants to offer admissions. There have been a couple without an interview though (see a few pages back).
Fourth, in-state applicants, that's me, if you have more questions specific to resident applications, let me know.

Thousands of people have not heard anything yet. Speaking more specifically to this thread, yes. If you look a few pages back, there are several people who have been waiting 30+ days with no word from UVA. I would contact admissions and let them know that you would like to update your contact information in that you may not be available to respond to correspondence during the month of January as you will be abroad.theoutpostmhs wrote:Has anyone else not heard anything yet? Had a general question about labeling. What exactly do you call your "Why UVA" addendum/essay before you upload it. Is it as simple as calling it "Why UVA" ?

I can't remember exactly what I called mine but it was something along those lines. It might have been "Essay - Why UVA" or something like that. It probably doesn't matter much but you can't go wrong with calling it that.Bajam wrote:Had a general question about labeling. That's fine. I went for Why the University of Virginia? [last name], just because of a general desire to not abbreviate in formal documents.Bajam wrote:Had a general question about labeling.
