I'm with you there. The last week/two weeks has been very quiet. I got all excited with my first two decisions and expected them all to start rolling in. But nope :(

Hold on out there EDers - your time is coming soon. Finals ended yesterday and I think everyone in administration is turning their attention toward admissions. Good luck!!

Sounds like insider information... if I had to guess I bet you've got a man on the inside. :!:

In fact, I'd bet the house on it...except I already wagered the house.

isn't it pretty much all defer/waitlist action for us ED folks now.

Not historically. Every year more acceptances trickle out later in the month.

So do we think the bulk of ED acceptances went out on Nov. 20? With a trickle afterwards? Most years there has been a large mass of ED acceptances 1st week of December, no?

I took the Nov. 20th wave as this year's early Dec wave, but the (relative) silence since makes me shrug. Idk. It's so far into the month, I'm sick of trying to figure it out tbh.

Historically, yes. However, that bulk/wave most likely already occured on November 20-21. So what we'll see from here on out is a deferral wave, and a handful of acceptances at seemingly random intervals (at least, that's how it has been in the past. given the deviation from the norm this year, it's hard to expect anything).

It strikes me as unlikely that they would have their big "acceptance wave" on the 20th, so soon after the deadline for submission. It's unlikely that they would have been able to read and render decisions on all competitive applications in such a short period of time, and I know in a number of cases that people's applications weren't actually complete until around that time. Plus that "wave" wasn't altogether that big.

I like the optimism seeded in this analysis :P

I mean, yeah, I think it's just realism more than anything else. It's possible that what went out on the 20th may have been some auto-admits and others that they had been able to review quickly, but there wasn't a big "wave" by any stretch of the imagination. I would assume that we're looking at another admit wave, a deferral wave, and then have the rest of the results trickle in. I will say, though, that the wait is agonizing.

I just don't understand what's taking so long. It's not like they're re-reading applications everyday. If HLS can dole out their decisions, why is Columbia taking so long for the ED decisions?

I guess, at the very least, no one ITT has been an auto reject or they would have heard back from now, right?

I'm just going to suppress this dread that there will not be another wave of ED admits. They're coming TODAY.
