Wow got the email about their international and comparative law programs today...quite impressive.

Just checked, this is right. So basically, we're not able to negotiate our scholarships without risking losing it, or giving up all leverage by submitting the seat deposit?

You could ask for a deadline extension, too. Worst they can say is no.

Most merit awards seem to come 2 to 3 weeks after acceptance.
If you don't get anything, you could always try to negotiate a bit of money?

Just sent an email in to see if I could get anything. Basically said that I have other scholarship offers but I really want to go to GWU. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

No, it was earlier in the day. I'm also on west coast time so it wasn't that radical of a time for me

any1 have success negotiating merit aid? I'm sitting on 78k from emory and I'm wondering if GWU matches or at least tries to match and I'd rather live in DC than ATL

The general response has been that they'll flag your file and get back to you after April 1st, when the seat deposits are due.

Yes. I emailed them asking if I was being considered for merit aid and if/how I can negotiate. They told me that they were still evaluating all the files and will let me know when they make a decision (I assume after the deposit deadline). I was admitted around 12/18 and still haven't been offered any type of aid.

I was actually about to make this question haha! I have a feeling they don't, or they give minimal $$$ compared to FT because isn't the assumption that you're working while going to school. Just my guess, but I'd also appreciate some insight!!

They do, though I'm not sure how much or how often through the RD scholarship process. I know for a fact they admit PTers via ED.

+1, I will be calling their bluff and withdrawing on this one. I'm not going to pay $500 into their coffers for a "maybe" when I've been accepted to much better schools.

I got mine via e-mail about 2 weeks after my acceptance. I actually received my snail mail packet before any scholarship info and never received any scholarship letter or anything.

Should I be worried about merit aid if I was admitted 02/15 and still haven't heard anything? Worth sending an email now or wait til the end of next week, aka one month since admission?
