But then, check here: https://web.law.columbia.edu/admissions ... ion-status
You don't need a login to check your status at Columbia.
Not in spam and I checked the site, but they don't have anything on me....I'll contact them since it has been over 2 weeks (3 weeks!!)

are you referring to "Your application is now complete and has been forwarded to the Admissions Committee for review. " or is there another UR status afterwards prior to decision?Jacq2212 wrote:Aaaannnnnddddd, nevermind. Re: Columbia c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Anyone else think Columbia's cost of living assessment is beyond absurdly low? $11k in NYC! Chicago has a lower cost of living and still factors in $13k+ for Room/Board.
I haven't even been accepted/rejected/sneezed at by Columbia yet so it probably won't matter anyways, but still. Anyone care to share how you pay utilities and rent for that amount in NYC or should I just find myself a nice bench in Central Park

My friend at CLS pays a little more than $1000 for a spacious apartment (Columbia owned).Spritzpiggy wrote:Anyone else think Columbia's cost of living assessment is beyond absurdly low? $11k in NYC! Chicago has a lower cost of living and still factors in $13k+ for Room/Board.

Harlem/N. Upper West Side isn't that bad on rent, and it's not difficult to find cheap, good food. If I go to Columbia/NYU, I'm considering Hoboken as well.Spritzpiggy wrote:Anyone else think Columbia's cost of living assessment is beyond absurdly low? $11k in NYC! CLS provides subsidized housing. Also keep in mind that the COA estimates are only for nine months.Spritzpiggy wrote:Anyone else think Columbia's cost of living assessment is beyond absurdly low? $11k in NYC! Chicago has a lower cost of living and still factors in $13k+ for Room/Board.

The Coa is still a bit frugal. Say 1k / month for 9 month. That leaves 2k for food transport etc. sounds low to me but its definitely doable.

Yeah I was just floored that 9 months in NYC could be cheaper then 9 months in Chicago. But I'm pleasantly surprised to learn about Columbia's subsidized housing- that's nice

CLS wasn't on my list until early January, when I got a fee waiver. Went complete: 1/7.
Should I view this as just a CLS application bump strategy? Or do I have a legitimate shot without a November complete date(like all my other schools)?
Any idea how long the wait is for January completers usually? I really don't want to feel the need to check my status twice a day for 4 months...

Remember LST says indirect expenses is 24k so subtract a bit for school stuff and I bet that's a better estimate of coaSpritzpiggy wrote:Oooooooh reallay! OK then, my trust in Columbia is restored. Thank you.

+1 As a native New Yorker 11K is definitely on the low side. If I were to go to Columbia or NYU my mindset and spending habits would have to change. I work and live at home in NYC so my dispoable income is insane. I definitely spent at least 11K during these 7 months of working (mind you I don't have rent).

Yeah, it sounds like something awful right now but in a week or two everyone will be asking, "Any VCE's today??" Fun times ahead (for masochists).TripTrip wrote:Vomit-colored envelope. It's what the Columbia acceptance letter comes in.Jpreece59 wrote:Please forgive my ignorance, but what is VCE?
