A lanyard key chain and a little notebook with pen. The letter was personalized a bit (referred to my area of legal interest) and there was a handwritten note by the signature that referred to my current employer and said I had great experience for law school :) Lots of brochures and pamphlets about Duke too. The letter has the same language as the admit email, basically saying congrats, you are admitted but then "you will be officially admitted when you apply for financial aid and scholarship assistance." Admitted students' open house is Friday 4/5/13.

C'mon, people. Make yourselves useful and invent stories in which this status date change means something good.

After initially throwing your app in the trash on 9/29, I bet they saw your gay comment in the Michigan thread and said to themselves "we need shntn, grab their app and let them in."

Why not keep it active in case you get in for leverage? Doesn't make sense to withdraw IMO

Yeah I don't get it. As far as employment goes Duke is better than UVA which is a school that excited you a lot.

Going to apply PT today or tomorrow. How important is a "Why Duke?" essay?

Numbers are 169/3.6

Thanks.

Depends... some people get it within minutes. I had my status change at a bit after 5PM and didn't get my email until just before 11PM. Best of luck!
That's brutal. Thanks.

:( Sorry, y'all.

Not a very clear pattern to this PT/PR madness on LSN. They admit the auto-admits but throw in a few PR for YP; PR a few people right at both 75ths; PR folks who are (169, <3.7; 168, <3.8; 167, <3.9); and throw in a few splitter PRs for good measure. Wat is this.

Basically I can't see any circumstance that ends with me in NC, even a full ride considering what I got from UVA. Anyway, best of luck.

Add me to the list of PR people. LSAT>170, GPA<3.6, super strong upward grade trend from a good school. Weaved a mini "Why Duke" into my PS. Penn's my first choice anyway, but rejection always hurts a little bit. Good luck to anybody that hasn't yet heard.

With the big money you got from UVA you have all the leverage you need. If this cycle doesn't work for me I am retaking, following your advice in the thread you started, and bringing in that 177+. Congrats again! I think Cork was a little jealous.

Have many PT admits received this package? I was admitted last month and haven't received any mail from Duke yet

Good luck!!! I guess they are finally starting to accept non-PT people. I'm getting anxious.

FWIW, I had a status date change two days ago on the 5th. The status itself stayed "under review," but the date went from 9/28 to 12/5. And now today, another change. If you're a long-term, non-PT applicant like myself, a status date change might presage some movement on your app.
