Besides me, there were two other applicants who were on the part-time waitlist when I visited a class.

Welcome to the club. Did you apply part-time or full-time? Also I find it weird that they've gone back and forth between waitlist emails and waitlist snailmail letters.dasfury wrote:Long time lurker...

I'm not sure if this is true but I think snail-mail letters are part of some sort of preferred waitlist. I only say that because I believe all the admits off the waitlist recieved their letters via snail-mail. I don't know. Just a guess.

I was informed by admissions sometime in February, after be waitlisted, that they did not have a "preferred wait-list" this year.
I'm guessing b/c he/she is a part-timer is why an email was used instead of the snail-mail approach that full-time applicants received... Just an idea. I was also waitlisted so I'm hoping that your movement means that they are finishing up and about to take me off this waitlist!
Any full-time applicants receive this email instead of decision via snail-mail?

Yeah they claim not to have a preferred waitlist.Bgard008 wrote:h2oplyer7 wrote:I'm not sure if this is true but I think snail-mail letters are part of some sort of preferred waitlist. I recently called the school to ask if there were any updates but didn't really hear anything new
. They're being tight-lipped.

I applied quite late in the cycle full-time and got an email about the wait list seconds after my status went DM. Never received a letter.

Had a mini-heart attack when I opened my mailbox and saw the UMB logo. Unfortunately, it was advertising from the Medical School.
They have to start taking people from the pt waitlist this week or next week. I just sense it.

Re: Maryland Applicants c/o 2015
Hey guys, im a part time waitlister as well. I applied 3/5 and got the waitlist email on 4/10 like some of you.
I called admissions yesterday morning and they pretty much gave me the same run around speech about us not knowing a final-final decision possibly up until the start of classes in the fall. Does anyone know when classes actually start? UMD is my #1 choice as well and I'm super anxious to know where I stand come fall. Also, any updates for pt waitlisters getting accepted? I hope we all know SOMETHING by the end of the week..

I think classes start sometime in late August, but I'm not sure others could probably provide more accurate info. I haven't heard of any part-time waitlisters getting pulled off the waitlist yet. Hopefully that will happen soon!lawyer211 wrote:Hey guys, im a part time waitlister as well. I applied 3/5 and got the waitlist email on 4/10 like some of you.

Re: Maryland Applicants c/o 2015
As for everyone talking about the difference between getting a snail mail letter and a email, my guess is that they are sending emails out now because it is later in the cycle and they want the people to receive the information as quickly as possible instead of having to wait for the mail to arrive in several days to weeks.
I have not hear anything about people getting off the waitlist except for the small talk about it on here but I imagine they should start accepting people soon. Also, I spoke to a lady in admissions a few weeks ago and she told me there was not a preffered waitlist this year as they have done in the past. She said it became too confusing for the department and they did away with it.

Re: Maryland Applicants c/o 2015
I guess I am on here for peace of mind at this point. I'm going crazy waiting on a decision I may not be very happy with. With only 50 slots for the PT program I know for a fact we have less of a chance of actually being taken off the waitlist then those who applied for the full time option. BUT I still want to remain optimistic and pray that I start my law career/experience later this year at UMD. It would be nice to know what to expect and/or plan for the fall. Can someone please come on here and make me feel like we have more than a fighting chance??
