Re: Georgetown c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Umm hey guys, quick (silly) question. I have an interview on Thursday and I'm meeting her for lunch. I know this may seem strange but...should I offer to pay when we're finished? I don't know what the protocol is, as I've never had a lunch interview. I'm just trying to prevent any awkward situations lol. Thanks for your input. Also...anything else I should keep in mind for this interview? It is my first of the cycle.

if they invite u for the interview, they pay...u dont, and shouldnt offer to pay (because even though u think u r demonstrating ur generosity, it shows ur lack of understanding instead)gatorlaw wrote:Umm hey guys, quick (silly) question. Yeah, let them pay, but at the same time (which I am sure you know this) don't get something too fancy with what you order. That could also come off wrong.thederangedwang wrote:if they invite u for the interview, they pay...u dont, and shouldnt offer to pay (because even though u think u r demonstrating ur generosity, it shows ur lack of understanding instead)gatorlaw wrote:Umm hey guys, quick (silly) question. So I hear Georgetown is notorious for being cheap when it comes to their money...has anyone else heard the same?

Definitely true. Which sucks, because with a lot of money, I would jump at GULC in a heartbeat.Champion wrote:So I hear Georgetown is notorious for being cheap when it comes to their money...has anyone else heard the same?

Before I looked at law school numbers and looked up a few past discussions, I would have thought that Georgetown gives out about the same as other peer schools but since they have more students, it just doesn't seem like they give as much. But I don't even think that is the case. There are some really high stats applicants on LSN and they didn't get anything.luxxe wrote:Definitely true. Yea it seems like since they have so many students, they have an "where going to get some of them to come regardless attitude"..which definitely sucks. I would also definitely jump GULC in a heartbeat.Mal Reynolds wrote:Before I looked at law school numbers and looked up a few past discussions, I would have thought that Georgetown gives out about the same as other peer schools but since they have more students, it just doesn't seem like they give as much. Just got my acceptance letter! I'm an overseas applicant and my last status update was 11/14 - which is also the date on the letter. I had an interview in mid- to late October.
Pretty pumped!
ETA: Dean Cornblatt added a VERY nice handwritten note at the bottom of the letter, referencing my PS, interests, and interviewer's comments.

AHHHHHHHHHHh this makes me very nervous because I'm an overseas applicant w/a last update of "11/14." I'm assuming you are in Spain though. I'm in Asia so it should take a bit longer I presume. Gah!!!!Real Madrid wrote:Just got my acceptance letter! I'm an overseas applicant and my last status update was 11/14 - which is also the date on the letter. Me too... I'm just surprised since I applied for both PT and FT. I think I would be an auto-accept for part time... and I know of some TLSers who got in part time with the same or lower stats... but NO MOVEMENT!!! WHAT GIVES!Killingly wrote:GULC hates us, RedMamba.TheRedMamba wrote:still stuck on 11/7....submitted 11/1

I'm hoping that we just didn't make the first wave of decisions. I read that you said you don't expect to be denied, killingly, and neither do I with my numbers. I would be shocked, actually. So I think maybe we just haven't been fully reviewed by the committee and that they will make a decision this week with this next batch...

I don't think we should worry TOO much yet...no one on LSN that submitted 11/1 or later has heard back either...

Submitted 10/29, but you're right! LSN only has 10/28 submitters as the most recent with decisions. We should be in the next batch.TheRedMamba wrote:Killingly wrote:I hope you're right.TheRedMamba wrote:I'm hoping that we just didn't make the first wave of decisions.
