If you were asked if you wanted to be on the waitlist, it means that you were waitlisted and not rejected.

Re: Illinois 2011 applicants!
Just to save time. I signed up for the WL and here's the email I got this week from Dean Pless:jasonc. wrote:ohhhhh lol thats confusing. it does say wait listed on status check. How much people do they reguarly take off the wl?
I wanted to thank you for opting on to the Illinois Wait List and provide you with a little more information. This email serves to confirm your status and your online status checker will change as well.
I am sure that every school you have applied to conducts their file review a little differently than the next. At Illinois once a candidate has opted on to the Wait List there will not be a further review until I determine that more offers should be made. At that point in time I will review all applicants on the Wait List and make additional offers. Those not selected will remain on the Wait List. Your online status will not change during this process.
At this point in time we do not require any additional information or a letter of continued interest. You are always welcome to submit additional, relevant information and you may do so by emailing it to admissions@law.illinois.edu or mailing a hard copy to the College. Any transcript updates should be sent to LSAC and we will be notified automatically.
Due to the fluidity of the Wait List it doesn’t help to provide you with the number of people on the Wait List or any other demographic information. I am able to say that I strive to keep the Wait List small and I only ask people if they wish for a place on the list if I believe they have a legitimate chance at being admitted during this cycle.
I will be sending out regular updates to you and let you know how our cycle is progressing. I apologize that I can’t provide any more information than that at this time.
If at any point you wish to be removed from our Wait List and have your file withdrawn from further consideration, please let me know.
I appreciate your interest in Illinois and your patience with our process.
Sincerely,
Paul

Last years waitlist was brutal (only 6 admitted) but the year before I think there was something like 47 admitted so you just never know. Good luck!Flips88 wrote:and from what I can gather, people off the WL still get scholarship or at least many have in the pastjasonc. wrote:Thanks! might as well. I dont have anything to loose.

Plus it needs to be taken into account that they waived their app fee for everyone this year so i'm sure their number of applicants have multiplied many times this yearanthropologieaddict wrote:Last years waitlist was brutal (only 6 admitted) but the year before I think there was something like 47 admitted so you just never know. DIng Ding Ding Ding DIng!
Was a strong consider... good thing they were far from a top choice. 1 rejection of the cycle
Waitlisted today, also my first rejection of the cycle. I am disappointed, even though they weren't a top choice for me either.

If your profile is truthful I have no idea why Illinois wait listed you (this is coming from a 165/4.0 that got waitlisted last week and doesn't understand).cinephile wrote:JD=Doctor wrote:Kinderby wrote:Rejected too. Re: Illinois 2011 applicants!
Yeah unfortunately they also had a free app fee last year...I think it was just a particularly competitive cycle last year for many reasons.
EDIT: I also heard in one of the threads that applications are actually down this year over all but I am not sure how accurate this is.

It's for the best that the spot went to someone who really wanted it. My offers at UCLA, Cornell and Georgetown are what's keeping me from taking the full ride. My point was the longer I think about it the more seriously I'm considering the Illini.

I think Illinois is one of the better barometers of if there's something wrong with your app. They never YP, but every once in a while they'll reject someone with really high numbers.the11111111 wrote:Wait 167 3.9 was rejected... No way?????????????

So... earlier in this thread I mentioned planning to attend the February ASW. I hate driving in winter, so I changed my mind. I'm now planning on going to the April ASW. Anyone else going then? krad?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
