Withdrew from WL. Not sure if/how that can help, but figured I'd pass it along. Best of luck to all of you.

Anyone else just get an increased scholarship offer? I got mine upped to 38k/yr even though I didn't pay the deposit with May 16 as my new deadline to accept the offer.

I just called them today and spoke with Tim, he said they had started to making offers on the wait list so I'm sure that we will hear more in the coming weeks.

In off the waitlist today. Was so sure I was going to Tulane... this is difficult, but in a good way.

Re: University of San Diego 2011
Was wait-listed mid-April, off the wait-list last night, and this morning I received the email with a grant offer of 23K for the first year....
Very excited, but not sure if I should go for it versus Pepperdine. Also, just emailed them asking how I can up the amount of the grant- don't want to be greedy, but I can't afford USD (or Pepperdine) even with the help they are offering...
Any tips on how to get them to give me more $$?

USD is fairly formulaic with grant money. That said, I am sure you can get them to provide scholarship money beyond the first year.noahzak wrote:Was wait-listed mid-April, off the wait-list last night, and this morning I received the email with a grant offer of 23K for the first year....

It probably goes without saying, but the best way to approach them is with competing offers from peer schools.
Good luck!

So if I already got my financial aid email, is it pretty much set I'm not going to be offered any aid? I was hoping my financial situation (broker than broke) would have warranted some need based aid.

Hey everyone considering attending,
What do you guys make of the flex section (no classes before 12 and no classes on friday)? What types of students do you think will be in that section as opposed to other sections (older/younger slackers/workers)?
Basically, if you have no aversion to waking up early and no aversion to Friday classes, would you pick the flex section? I think some of the classes in the section are mixed in with PT students as well, but correct me if I am wrong.

The part I like about it is "enrollees finish the year with the same number of credits as traditional section full-time, first-year students" which is available to part time students like myself.
And I would guess it would be populated with working people ... though it's kinda hard to work if you got to start 3 hours after business hours begin.
Another plus would be avoiding traffic I imagine.

I just filled that out, I opted for regular class hours. I'm just a morning person - and my mornings would be wasted if I didn't have class til noon. And I'm sure there are lots of people who would really really want those "flex" hours - way more than I do.

Hey, so how many of you guys would apply for on-campus housing over off campus? you think on-campus housing is worth the approx. $300 more a month?

Absolutely not. There are so many great places to live in San Diego....don't live on campus! (Especially if it costs more)jagoo wrote:Hey, so how many of you guys would apply for on-campus housing over off campus? you think on-campus housing is worth the approx. $300 more a month?

I don't think I want to live in the dorms with undergrads (Manchester Village) and am leaning more towards having a roommate for the first year, but the proximity to classes might be nice.jagoo wrote:Hey, so how many of you guys would apply for on-campus housing over off campus? you think on-campus housing is worth the approx. $300 more a month?

Re: University of San Diego 2011
Proximity is nice, but I think being stuck on campus 24/7 for 3 years would drive me nuts. Plus, it looks like there are a lot of apartments right across the street.
edit: Nope, that's the campus housing. There is a decent amount of options within a 5 mile radius though.
For $300 less I might do it, since it's $300 more, no way.

Am I allowed in USD 2014 thread if I put down my deposit but am on five waitlists, and still haven't heard from UC Davis? I know I will most likely attend USD - but with 6 schools left who haven't rejected me - it also doesn't seem like its set in stone...

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
