That packet they sent me with the samples of PS's and 250s and tips on applying really made me do a 180
You got a packet with tips and samples? What manner of madness is this!?!

I got something like that from Stanford, but not from Yale.

This was a tip packet prepared by the BLSA and sent out to certain candidates they got from CRS.

I didn't get one from Stanford but did get one from Yale.

Man, life's tough as a poor white applicant. If I manage to crack H or Y, I'll have to form a PWLSA so we can follow the BLSA model and circulate some "best practices".

Well, in that case, your odds are pretty good ;)

Seriously, good luck with the application and congrats to all the recent admits!

I got a packet and letter encouraging me to apply from their NALSA group and that made me feel so special even though I bet it went to basically everyone :( I want to be duped though

Hey everyone, haven't been on this thread before but thought I'd jump in. I went complete around the middle of December, and haven't heard anything yet. I've heard from most other schools by this point, so over the next week or so I'll probably be narrowing things down more and withdrawing from the schools that aren't at the top of my list (sorry, Northwestern). Has anyone else started this yet?

Got that as well. And, the encouraging email from a student to apply....Not a bad recruitment strategy. I like to see those packets as a good sign

i feel you completely. before i received that packet, Yale was not on my radar in terms of schools i wanted to apply to (figured it would be akin to lighting $75 on fire). and even after reading through it initially, i still wasn't going to bother with it... that is, until my gf gave me the old 'they-must-really-be-interested-in-you-if-they-sent-you-that' speech/pep talk. convinced, i went to work on my app--and now, that's where i'll be matriculating in the fall.

hopefully you'll be met with the same fortune. good luck!

Just got the phone call a little bit ago. I still can't believe it, but I guess I can officially call this cycle over. Good luck to everyone waiting!

Phone call today from Yale. Almost sad because I had just about resigned myself to Harvard--note the almost, however

Congrats to the new admits!

Also, from the YLS Twitter:

Admit calls during evenings: check, Saturdays: check, Sundays: check, holidays: check, middle of the night: soon?

LOVE it. (I would also like to add that they can call me at 3 am-I won't mind :D )

Dude, they can call me in the middle of a TEST and I won't be mad (or embarrassed... would be too elated to be...).

anyone interested in a last minute 250 exchange pm me. I'll promise to get back to you by early Monday evening if you'll do the same. Just looking for someone to check for grammar or messy phrases that I can clean-up, it's too late to make major changes.

If the call was from Yale/(203) I don't see how you didn't. What did you write your 250 about?

Congrats to those admitted!

For those just now finishing their apps: have you already supplied your dean's certification? I just submitted my app yesterday and haven't requested my dean's cert yet. I'm going to today.

If the dean's certs aren't in by the deadline, am I screwed?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
