Everybody who has gotten in so far has said the word california at some point in their lives (those are some real ties there).

No Cali ties here. I am from Bama, which probably counts as a URM at Berkeley.ads222 wrote:no dice. I've been to but have never lived in CA. Yeah, but it leaves out the 162 and 165 that preceeded the 170.r6_philly wrote:I'd characterize that as "decent"minuit wrote:

Re: Berkeley 2011 applicants
You know, when I got my Feb score report, my 170 was 99%. Then they bumped it down to 98% for the overall rank. So I should retake. If I get on the WL at H, I may actually retake it in Feb if all other acceptances are in.minuit wrote:lol yeah gotta get that 98th percentile up to 99th!r6_philly wrote:I'd characterize that as "decent"minuit wrote:

I would consider it for that reason, although after 3 times, I just loathe that god-damn test. The thing that makes me so mad is that I have legit reasons why I could have done much better all three times. Even on this last one, I missed 6 LG questions when I missed none in June or in any of my prep sections.

Re: Berkeley 2011 applicants
I hate to blame others for my failings so I don't usually complain, but I also had legitimate reasons why I didn't get a 172. The supervisor of the test center came in the room to talk to the proctor, for about 3-5 minutes. "Whispering" doesn't really help in a quiet test room. I actually spoke and asked them to stop. I didn't finish that section and guessed on 3 questions. This was undisclosed, so who's to say I didn't guess them all right... but I feel like I didn't get my best shot.I would consider it for that reason, although after 3 times, I just loathe that god-damn test. I don't dislike the test material, I just dislike taking it. I didn't do one time test while prepping because I didn't have the luxury (in time availability). I think I can totally score better if I can dedicate to prepping. I jokingly say all the time I will keep taking it until I get a 180, after I get in law school because this damn test can't get the better of me.

3 administrations had gone past and I decided not to retake. But if I get all my target schools, I may really sign up for Feb...

Re: Berkeley 2011 applicants
I've been hesitating to post on this thread but hopefully my stats will make everyone a little more confident about their chances and show that the admissions process/timing is unpredictable. Submitted 11/21, UR 11/22, admitted 11/30 via phone w/Dean Tom. Stats: 167/3.99 Non-URM, in state. I wrote a customized personal statement for Berkeley. Totally shocked and thrilled to be in at my top choice, wish you all the best of luck. I'm a Bay Area native so if anyone has questions about location/where to live I'd be happy to answer them.
