I thiiiink that's a hopeful post? I'm thinking people won't hear until Saturday/Monday :/
I'm going with hopeful post. Clarification please?
I just realized how vague that was and formally apologize. Total hopeful post!!
Edit: It was in response to the hopeful post above mine.

I have a friend who this happened to last year. It seems like an odd method of notifying people of acceptances. I don't think she was particularly happy about her mother knowing before she did.

Just to update my post yesterday, I went UR today. I didn't contact them or anything (and now glad that I refrained).
To sum up: RD; above both medians; no extra scholarship apps; app in & processing from 10/29; under review on 12/2.

Sure, and ask her about ours too while you're at it!

Has anyone in the NE area gotten their mail today and can confirm/deny purple envelopes?

My app is under review but I still need to submit a scholarship essay. I'm told this won't affect my consideration for admission. Does anyone have any experience with this or know if this is correct?

When I went to an information session, they said that they would potentially glance over your essay/LOR (I assume just to make sure that it goes with what you said in your other stuff, i.e. if you're applying for the public interest scholly your PS isn't about how you want to make tons of money or something weird), but that it's not officially considered.

does anyone know if people tend to hear back from NYU based upon when they go under review? i submitted 11/1 and went UR 11/9 and i'm RD...NYU's a reach for me, but i'm just wondering if i should start compulsively checking the mailbox once other people start posting about being accepted on here. haha

In the past, the first waitlists / rejections came a while after the first acceptances.

As far as I know, no one has heard (except one guy on LSN, who explained that he has an alumnus parent that was contacted before the official decision was sent out).

We don't know because there's no precedent. NYU has never had status checkers before this year, so complete/review dates were unknown.

Is it common for Status Checkers to remain at 'Under Review' indefinitely? It seems it should atleast change back to Complete or Decision Rendered.
Maybe they're just waiting a few days after the decisions are sent out to change the status...
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
