I wonder why Columbia has a special name for "waitlist." What's wrong with "waitlist"? I guess reserve does sound a little better!

In the letter it said that it's a "Reserve Group", i.e it's not ranked in any way like a waitlist would be.

So far, every waitlist I have gotten (and I have gotten several at T14's) has said that they are not ranked. I don't really believe it though. Do you think they actually go through the whole list all over again like a second admissions cycle? Then again maybe thats why they don't get back to some people until orientation.

Who knows, perhaps they say that so we don't all call and ask what spot we are on the waitlist? I believe that they're not numerically ranked 1-x, but I'm sure there are some applicants that are stronger WLers than others.

Why have holds and waitlists ("reserves") going simultaneously? What does that mean for us on hold?

Hopefully I get some decision before I have to respond to NYU...would love to go to CLS but definitely not turning down NYU without something concrete!

Hi so just to clarify, everything but the dings are going via e-mail, and the dings are regular mail?

How do you know if they have sent your ding in the mail, does the status checker change at all? I'm worried because my NYU package got lost in the mail.. (only found out I was admitted when I got the asw invite in the mail and called the school to see if they sent it by mistake) so I'm worried that if I get ding'd at CLS I may never find out because the letter might get lost too... Canadian mail sucks btw

I guess you could call. The status checker won't tell you. On the bright side, a straight up ding doesn't seem all that likely with your numbers.

If you're really worried, you can always call and ask if anything has been mailed to you. I know several people did that. I feel like the admissions office got a little annoyed, but in your case, you might have a legitimate concern. When did you apply? I would probably wait it out, but if you're really, really worried, just call and explain that you're worried that you may have missed something from them because your mail hasn't been getting there. You've only been finding out that something was supposed to have gotten to you by getting emails about it.

If you're an international applicant, I'm pretty sure your decision will come by email no matter what.

However, the status checker never changes past Complete.
