Do you have to actually withdraw if the seat deposit deadline passes?

Nah. Withdrawing is just courteous if you know you aren't going before deadline. I realize I ghosted a school yesterday.chargers21 wrote:Do you have to actually withdraw if the seat deposit deadline passes?

You never "have" to withdraw. I have withdrawn from every school, though. It's a simple email.chargers21 wrote:Do you have to actually withdraw if the seat deposit deadline passes?

Thanks! I had 1 that was passing today that I forgot about and wasn't sure if you had to formally withdraw from everywhere when accepting an offer elsewhereguybourdin wrote:You never "have" to withdraw. Hey everyone can someone link me to a good explanation about how to negotiate scholarships? If there is one? Asking here b/c the financial aid board is more dead.

Went to an event today where I knew that I'd see a lot of my friends, so I wore a shirt from my school just so people wouldn't ask where I was going. Three people still asked. Apparently not enough flexing, should've worn a full outfit.proteinshake wrote:would wearing your school's hat/clothing in public be flexin too hard?

For those who have successfully negotiated, have you like sent a general email to ask to speak to someone who deals with financial aid, or do you just send an email to the financial aid email address and lay it all out on the table in your first message? I just visited the school.

send it to the financial aid office and if there's a specific person, they'll forward it. include all your competing offers (I put every single offer I had from all peer schools) in the initial email.Keilz wrote:For those who have successfully negotiated, have you like sent a general email to ask to speak to someone who deals with financial aid, or do you just send an email to the financial aid email address and lay it all out on the table in your first message? at sticker? you have great options and NYU/CLS aren't worth that much more. though I think you said your SO is in NYC so that complicates things. but I definitely don't think the opportunities available at CLS/NYU are that much greater to justify sticker price over $$ at T13s. plus all the schools you're deciding between will get you back to NYCKeilz wrote:Thanks - sent in my first emailproteinshake wrote:send it to the financial aid office and if there's a specific person, they'll forward it. include all your competing offers (I put every single offer I had from all peer schools) in the initial email.Keilz wrote:For those who have successfully negotiated, have you like sent a general email to ask to speak to someone who deals with financial aid, or do you just send an email to the financial aid email address and lay it all out on the table in your first message? I really just don't want to spend another three years long distance, and I really want to take part in the opportunities afforded at those schools

^Would second this. NYU/CLS at sticker puts you in a debt hole that is longer than your long distance would be! Totally get SO bit though, so maybe Cornell is a happy medium?proteinshake wrote:at sticker? you have great options and NYU/CLS aren't worth that much more. though I think you said your SO is in NYC so that complicates things. but I definitely don't think the opportunities available at CLS/NYU are that much greater to justify sticker price over $$ at T13s. plus all the schools you're deciding between will get you back to NYCKeilz wrote:Thanks - sent in my first emailproteinshake wrote:send it to the financial aid office and if there's a specific person, they'll forward it. include all your competing offers (I put every single offer I had from all peer schools) in the initial email.Keilz wrote:For those who have successfully negotiated, have you like sent a general email to ask to speak to someone who deals with financial aid, or do you just send an email to the financial aid email address and lay it all out on the table in your first message? Yeah, it's a lot of money, but I thankfully was able to save up a year of COA, so I wouldn't be in debt for the full sticker price. Thanks for the support and listening to my commiserationVA2lawschool wrote:^Would second this. NYU/CLS at sticker puts you in a debt hole that is longer than your long distance would be!
