1/08 submission, still no word... should I send in a Why Columbia? They seem to advise waiting till after a hold/WL to do this, though.

Trust me, Jan 8 is nowhere near the longest people are waiting. (I'm complete 11/2 and still waiting)jrose5 wrote:1/08 submission, still no word... should I send in a Why Columbia? They seem to advise waiting till after a hold/WL to do this, though.
Wait until you hear something.

Wowsa. I submitted 1/31, went complete at 2/3 and I've been impatiently waiting. I can't imagine how anxious you've been! Good luck!!incompetentia wrote:Trust me, Jan 8 is nowhere near the longest people are waiting. The admissions office handles merit aid, but after you're accepted, there is no further offer of merit aid. So if I want to bargain using other acceptances/scholarships/incriminating information, which office would I contact? And do I have to wait to contact them until May, when they finally get to me in the need based pile?

*Hugs* Hopefully I'll decide if this is worth holding onto after I visit next week. If it's not really amazing once I get there, I'm out.texaskk wrote:lawmonkey... I don't want to do this anymorelaw_monkey wrote:Congrats new admits!

Am I correct in surmising that Columbia doesn't have an "in review" status to bridge the gap between "complete" and the decision?

Re: Columbia 2011!
Yep. (You're correct). Once you hit complete you just sit around forever until you get a ding letter or email.Zabini wrote:Am I correct in surmising that Columbia doesn't have an "in review" status to bridge the gap between "complete" and the decision?

Re: Columbia 2011!
Do any forgottens have scholarship deadlines they will have to answer to soon? I have a deadline in early April for a significant scholarship at one of my top choice schools and I'm wondering what to do about it as I've still heard nothing from Columbia. Any suggestions?

Re: Columbia 2011!
if anyone cares, according to the finaid office they are not a matching school but any information should go to them. Also, they said it's okay to fax. Seriously? They want my tax return and my parents tax return coming through the fax? It will be occupied till next monday.delusional wrote:bumpdelusional wrote:Okay, I hope someone can help me with this - the Columbia finaid office says that they work only with need. between my parents' and mine, there must be forty pages. If i got a forty page fax, I'd rescind the offer of admission. But if I mail it they'll never get it.mcweanis wrote:i faxed mine on march 1 and it went through right away; then i called and made sure they got everything and they picked up the phone and helped me. !

Since Columbia is a slight reach for me, too, I would love a hold email as well! Congrats!Zarathustraspoke wrote:Columbia, very much a reach for me, sent me a pleasant surprise letter this morning placing me on reserve. LOCI? Yes, please
May I ask when you submitted?

I thought hold is promising to look at you again later before the cycle is over (aka deferred) and reserve is promising to look at you again after the cycle is over (aka waitlist)?

Re: Columbia 2011!
This is correct...hold and reserve are not thr same thing. Have any holds heard back yet? Can't believe CLS is taking so long (at least for me haha).subtle wrote:I thought hold is promising to look at you again later before the cycle is over (aka deferred) and reserve is promising to look at you again after the cycle is over (aka waitlist)?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
