Re: U of San Diego Fall 2010
I just got a letter regarding scholarship info. I was awarded a 15,000 scholarship, only for the 2010-2011 year. Has anyone else recieved anything like this? It seems everyone else as well as all other schools offer scholarships as a 3 year package. Only the first year is very dissapointing, and frankly unless I'm ill informed, I will not be attending San Diego. I waited 5 months for this bull shit. Any thoughts?

Some schools do one-time scholarships, I know USF does that (I don't think I've seen a lot of renewable scholarships from them).eberl032 wrote:I just got a letter regarding scholarship info. Look at it as a guaranteed $5k/year renewable if it makes you feel better about it.
I'd check into 2L/3L scholarship opportunities. I know some schools have a fair amount of scholarships offered for performance while in school. I conceptualize is the same as I do renewables: you do well, you'll get the money.

I got this same letter/scholarship offer today and was also disappointed. This is my only acceptance at the moment though so not too much I can do about it for now...

Re: U of San Diego Fall 2010
Why is it that they offered me so much less than other schools? Im a 163/3.59 so Im basically at the 75th percentile for both. Similar ranked schools are giving me about 20k/yr

Im in a similar situation...I was offered the same $15K (but renewable)...but it is the lowest scholarship offer I was given and the other 4 schools are all higher ranked. I know from last years LSN it looks like a lot of people use USD as a safety so hopefully when they withdraw they will up our $$$.

GoBears: They offer tours on Saturdays too. If you let them know ahead of time that you are coming they will sit down and meet with you and all that. However, the official "Admitted Students Day" programs where they put on the whole dog and pony show only fall on Mondays, not sure why.

Yeah I feel your pain. I'm in a similar situation. What I find frustrating is how long it is taking them to get scholly info out. They really should have a better jump on that and I think as a result will lose a lot of students.eberl032 wrote:Why is it that they offered me so much less than other schools? Questions for those who have heard from the Admission: Did your status changed to "Under Review" or something similar to this? or it went straight from complete to DR?twert wrote:complete since october 23.azb wrote:Been complete right before the Thanksgiving Holidays....no word since.spunky123 wrote:Still waiting to hear? Offered 25k per at top 33%. Withdrew, so that money is back in the pot. Good luck - it is a really nice school, just not going to be the one for me.

Complete since Oct 12... PT. I live in La Jolla, work in El Cajon (Grossmont College). Applied to and accepted at another LS in Minneapolis, MN in December. I'd rather go the USD, but I'm getting a vibe that they don't want me. Oh, well, I DO like snow!

So apparently we have homework for the ASD...they want us to study some case...I haven't had a chance to look at it, but I hope its not long.

Crazy! There is no way that I am going to attend a law school that expects its students to do homework, especially before they even begin classes. This is the last you will see of me in the San Diego thread! I could have saved myself some money in app fees if I had known this beforehand.kickincane21 wrote:So apparently we have homework for the ASD...they want us to study some case...I haven't had a chance to look at it, but I hope its not long.

Re: U of San Diego Fall 2010
Really? You're giving up that easily? USD probably assumes that a good deal of students are interested in reading a case or two(since you will be doing a lot of this in law school) prior to entering classes. I think it's a bit presumptuous to make a decision about whether or not to attend a law school solely on that basis.DeSilentio2728 wrote:Crazy!
