so i just got a call on my cell phone from an unknown number and googled the area code - it's a michigan area code.

Was it a 734 area code?

no - 269. can i stop trying to get my phone to turn back on and calm down? telemarketer? some other random unsettling occurance?

Well, the University's numbers have 734 area codes, and I'm pretty sure that Michigan Law also has a 734 number, so chances are that it's probably a telemarketer. That, or a long-lost relation who needs your help in transferring large sums of money from abroad.
