Did anyone go to this week's ASW day 1 today? I couldn't make it today, but I'll be there tomorrow!

^ My thoughts exactly lol.

I think it also depends on what people are familiar with. I've lived in some pretty pricey places. I don't think I've ever seen $800 for rent anywhere lol.

Yupp, I thought it was pricey because I paid 460 a month for a 1 bed/ 1 bath across the street from campus during UG

800 for rent close to Austin will definitely get you a middle-upper middle class apartment/loft/townhouse/etc

You're gonna need to define "close to" because... no.

Edit: unless that's $800 for your rent while splitting it between x amt of ppl.

rural/small city in the midwest
Wow where did you guys go? Seriously because I'm from the Bay Area so I wouldn't know cheap if it punched me in the face. Went to a Midwest UG but still...wow. V low priced. Nicely done.

I had a similar question, and am still kinda on the fence. I plan on using Vandy, Emory, UCLA, and USC. Still unsure about trying to leverage my UVA acceptance and full rides to UGA and Wake. I want to be thorough, but also don't want to undermine credibility by including schools that aren't true peers.

Posted in the class of 2020 tired but I thought I'd ask her as it's a tad urgent, for me anyways..

So ASD II is on the 31st. Does that mean there's nothing happening on Saturday 4/1? I scheduled to arrive Thursday and leave sat, but I don't want to miss out on anything. Would like to know so I can change my travel arrangements

TIA

I can give some advice on housing near campus (their brochure was relatively spot-on).

There are places close-ish to the school that are under $700 for a studio. So it's possible to aim lower.

I've visited before but not in an official capacity (didn't sign into the admissions office).

Thanks!
I am in the same boat. I sent in a "Why Texas" today because I saw someone on LSN who is a white male in undergrad with a 3.7/157 do it and get in. I said If a "Why Texas" or a letter of continued interest can be added to an application to someone who hasn't had a decision made on yet, please add this to my file. I also added that it was unsolicited, so if it wasn't possible, I understood.

Honestly, you probably could get a two bedroom town home for $1600 in Pflugerville, so $800 a piece. Why would anyone do that, I don't know. But you could. And Pflugerville is the town over from Austin, so I guess it could be "close."

Just requested to have my app withdrawn. Hopefully that means the admissions review process will get through that much more quickly and free up some acceptance space. Good luck y'all.

Went complete 12/21, nothing since. Sent in an unsolicited Why Texas yesterday, got a confirmation email today. Hoping to hear back within the next 2 weeks, especially since they've got their entire applicant pool now.

Yeah I'm hoping things pick up now, too. May write a Why Texas now that I'm hearing it's not unusual to send one after the rest of the app.

Got a call from a random Austin number. Answered it thinking it was UT, super stoked. Nope...Jason's Deli.

I'm done.
