Are you legitimately asking? haha because you gave literally zero info for any of us to respond to that LOL
For someone with a 158 3.5, no you're not being low-balled.
For someone with a 169 3.8, yes you're being low-balled.
For someone with a 164 3.7, seems about right.
LMAO, I just realized how worthless my question was.
I have a 164 and an unspeakable GPA, URM, so that sounds about right!
edit: typo!
URM is kind of a wildcard so I wouldn't read much into what nonURMs get at BU or other schools for that matter

Look at the campus on google maps and you will see a massive park on the water directly across the bridgebrinicolec wrote:

When I was at NYU, I used to hop on the subway and go to Central Park a lot to do my readings and it was really relaxing to be outside and everything and be distanced from NYU while doing my work, so it'd be dope to have something like that while at LS.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna go to the first one (which is the 24th, I think??) and maybe go a day early because they have something for students of color.ashrice13 wrote:Apartment- prices for an apartment are kind of what everyone has stated here. It's pricey but doable with roommates.brinicolec wrote:A couple questions about living in Boston (as it relates to BU):
How is housing for BU law students? Do most people live off-campus?/Is there even on-campus housing?/About how much do people end up having to pay for housing if they, say... rent an apt.?
What's the deal with public transportation for BU/Boston as a whole, and on the other side of that, how is parking for those who do have a car? I'm not at all familiar with the area so I was wondering. To put in a simpler way: Car = required, car = convenient, car = unnecessary, or car = kind of a pain in the ass to have? Lol. What I mean by how is parking is... I paid like $80/mth for parking at my apartment complex during UG. Are prices in Boston steep like that or...?
ALSO, for people who decide to rent an apt or a house or what have you, are most of those neighborhoods in areas that are in walking distance? I actually tend to prefer walking if possible (good way to exercise)
Edit: ALSO!!!! (lol) I know that it's situated by a river... Are there good outside study places (AWAY FROM THE SCHOOL) for folks who like to sit somewhere outside and do their reading or something? Car- if you have an apartment with a parking spot, a car is very convenient (especially if you live in Allston or something because the roads are a bit less congested/easier to navigate). Apartments with parking are not super common but they exist. There are also places that have residential on road parking. These can also be good...but there's in increased likelihood that the spots will be filled/a non-resident parks there anyway. if you don't have either of these options, a car is not worth it.
I would say it's a bit far to walk to school...but public transit is Definitely accessible.
For quiet places right near BU, there aren't many. The "BU beach" is a small strip of grass at BU that looks at the water but it's not much. If you're willing to hop on a bus like you did in NY, there's tons of stuff. Boston is a very small city compared to other major cities. Once you get away from Boston proper a bit, there's a lot of water and grassy areas.
Definitely come for an accepted students day and stay for an extra day to explore, if you can. The city is very walkable (assuming it's not too cold).

Just to make sure you guys want to come here:
Tuesday: snow in the morning, icy rain in the afternoon. 20ish degrees
Wednesday: everything froze over night. Icy roads/walkways. 50 car pile up (low speed, no serious injuries) on the highway. Morning: 20 degrees, afternoon: 50 degrees and sunny. Everything melts.
Thursday: 8-14 inches of snow falling at a rate of 1-2 inches an hour. Back down to 20 degrees
Ugh. I'll never leave the northeast but sometimes I want to.

Worst thing about like every law school in a big city on the east coast is the weather lolashrice13 wrote:Just to make sure you guys want to come here:

Me tomorrow: office closed, maybe not having class because of snow.
Of course Chicago is the same beast so I have been used to it but seriously? From a high of 50 to a high of 20 in 24 hours is a lot.

We have a lot if people at work that came from Chicago and the basic consensus is that Chicago has worse winters but they have nothing that compares to our weather swings.azaleafire wrote:Me yesterday: wearing knee length winter coat.ashrice13 wrote:Just to make sure you guys want to come here:

In January we had a week of single digit temperatures followed by 4 days of 60 degree weather. It's ridiculous.

Went to Miami twice. Can see why being a law student would be hard there. Especially if you're a stress drinker sometimes (I AM! lol). Tons of distractions in that place.RParadela wrote:Can confirm, have lived in Miami all of my life (except for college).Thomas Hagan, ESQ. wrote:If I lived in Miami, studying would be the last thing that I'd want to do...RParadela wrote:Which makes me wonder why Miami law sucks so much.. Still think it's odd how bad Miami is though.

Just an FYI, they have a snow day tomorrow, so I think it's safe to assume no one will be in the admissions office

I'm above both 75ths and I got $20k a year for a total of $60k, which feels like a ridiculously lowball offer. It's sad I don't know my worth...
For someone with a 158 3.5, no you're not being low-balled.
For someone with a 169 3.8, yes you're being low-balled.
For someone with a 164 3.7, seems about right.
I have a 164 and an unspeakable GPA, URM, so that sounds about right!

If I was admitted back in December and still haven't heard anything regarding money, should I assume that I'm not getting any? Or are they doing waves throughout February?

Does anyone have any idea on how much more selective BU is compared to W&M? The only reason why I'm asking is because their acceptance rates and medians are basically exactly the same, but BU is ranked higher. Are they comparable at all in terms of admissions?

Idk if anyone ITT has talked about this before but what are the big differences b/w BC and BU (location excluded) that make BU higher ranked? Is the general idea that BU is more portable in the NE but BC is more of a local school or something? Based on LST, BC has slightly better employment #s.
