both numbers between median and 75th and I got 75K
Over 75th lsat, 50th GPA here with 90K
Well over both 75th, offered 80K. Not very generous. Why are they offering so much less than T14s??
Is this a bargaining game?

My guess is bargaining + they don't have as much money as T14 and private schools

I suddenly got a fee waiver for UCLA. (I haven't applied) It is also clearly past their Feb 1st due date. Does this mean they'll actually look at my app if I submitted it today?
Wondering if it is worth it to apply just out of curiosity.

Edit: It sounds at least plausibly merit based: "We are writing to encourage you to apply to UCLA Law for the fall of 2016. Based on your academic performance you may be a competitive candidate for admittance and for the possibility of a Dean's Merit Scholarship."

I wouldn't, personally.

I saw the late fee waivers as a school's attempt to boost their application numbers.

Plus, why apply to a school if you're not truly interested?

I've heard of applicants submitting even after the June LSAT, so maybe.

Thanks for the responses!
I just didn't apply the first time around since I'm not a super obvious shoo-in candidate, though I suppose I have good chances. So scholarship money is a BIG factor.
I might apply after all :)

Emailed the dean about where I stood in the merit aid process, and didn't even receive a reply.... :/

Relax

LOL
I'm not stressed about it. I just thought it was strange because every time I've emailed a school they're always so prompt in a response.

I got in this week via call. They didn't say anything about scholarships. Does that usually come after or did I just not get anything?

How long should I wait before contacting UCLA about scholarships? I got a very nice offer from USC a month ago, but UCLA has been quiet on the merit aid front. I got an offer for need-based aid earlier this week from UCLA and I don't want to jump the gun if their process is slower. Also, they have and ASD this weekend I am going to, could they possibly be using that as a means of determining who to give aid to? Starting to get nervous hehe..

Does the status checker ever change to Under Review? I have been complete since 2/19.

I don't believe so, but I could be wrong. I've been sitting at complete since 1/29. GPA and LSAT both inbetween median and 75th %

My offer was a bit lower than expected as well, especially considering I showed them a full-ride to a higher ranked school.

One thing we heard at ASD yesterday, though, was that Dean Mnookin is hoping/planning/promising to instate some kind of tuition guarantee program where the tuition is only going to rise a couple hundred $ each year (she didn't seem to have final numbers). They're already quite a bit cheaper than most other T14 schools (tuition is set by the UC Regents, so they don't have the option of raising it higher and playing the big scholarship game). If you're not a CA resident, apparently there are ways to become one for 2L and 3L. All of these, I think, are reasons why their offers are lower than those of their peer schools.

I just got an email about the fixed tuition thing.

Basically you need to get a California drivers license and live in California for a year (so have a place before the semester starts) and you'll be a resident in a year.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
