Depends on how fresh the snow is -- I wear my treated boots after sidewalks have been plowed and just try my best to avoid any puddles (which is where the salt will really get you). But you can't always count on sidewalks being plowed, and below 10-20 degrees, riding boots won't keep you nearly as warm as snow boots.SomeElleWoodsJoke wrote:Thank you all! Cue anxiety that I was counting on several pairs of leather riding boots. With treatment spray will they be less than destroyed if I stick to sidewalks? Primarily going to be ubering for any significant distances. I don't own any snow boots, but they sound bulky lol.
Everything I've tried to buy online to wear is delayed by the storm too >:(
If you've got a larger budget, you can always go with a brand like Blondo or Merrell. They have casual boots that repel salt and water and will get you through everything but the worst of cold days.
FWIW, the worst of it only lasts about a week, and there is a lot to cold weather living that is awesome -- fireplaces, spiked hot cocoa, snow days, sledding, the feeling you get when coming inside after a super chilly day. If natural beauty counts for anything, seeing any city frosted with snow or ice after a storm is really pretty amazing.texasellewoods wrote: I know all this seems rather dramatic, but I HATE THE COLD so much and I'm trying to get a feel of how miserable I will be going to law school in the north. It will make a legitimate difference in my daily life/happiness.
