I just completed my alumnus interview, so hopefully I'll have an update fairly soon. The interview went really well, so I'm hoping that gave me the boost I needed to get an acceptance letter.accessislife wrote:any movement here - interview invites/acceptances? How soon after an alumni interview did people get their decisions mailed to them? I did mine right before thanksgiving break on the 25th and submitted my app/went complete around 10/23. I got the interview request in early November.

how did you get an interview request prior to submitting? did you have to sign up for something?shamallama wrote:How soon after an alumni interview did people get their decisions mailed to them? I didn't. I submitted my app in October (10/23, that might have been confusing on my part) and got the request early November.accessislife wrote:how did you get an interview request prior to submitting? did you have to sign up for something?shamallama wrote:How soon after an alumni interview did people get their decisions mailed to them? Your also in Canada, so you gotta factor that in. It took a week for the letter to get to me.smccgrey wrote:At what point does it start being acceptable to get excited about opening my mailbox? Not until next week right?

Going to a group interview in my city soon -- can someone PM and tell me about their experience / some of the questions? Thanks!

Although most schools do need aid too, gulc actually gives a substantial amount along with scholarships. I think someone made a post were they said they got almost 30k/year as need and 15k/year as merit (or something like that)

Parents typically count till you're 30 but since you are married you might be able to not have them include your parents' $$$smccgrey wrote:How can I tell if I'd qualify for need based aid? As an older applicant, I find the fact that my parent's information is considered in the need-based aid decision to be insulting and offensive. I haven't relied on my parents for almost a decade. Why on earth would they be expected to contribute to my education expenses.smccgrey wrote: How can I tell if I'd qualify for need based aid? From what I can tell, almost all schools (except for HYS, which use a sliding scale starting at age 26) take parental information into account no matter how old you are. I think Georgetown does this as well, but I'm not 100% sure.hereisonehand wrote:

You should be able to get a decent sense of what the FAFSA will calculate at FAFSA4Caster - google it and it will be the first fafsa.ed.gov link that comes up. Now, colleges may require additional financial information like a CSS profile that takes more factors into consideration than the FAFSA does.... At least they sometimes require this for undergrad - not sure about grad.smccgrey wrote:How can I tell if I'd qualify for need based aid?
