General status checker question, but I'm posting it here because a date-change on my Georgetown checker prompted it.

Do we know with certainty that date updates on the status checkers are associated (in spite of the schools' insistence otherwise) with an individual application's process?

Yes, but it's tough to tell what individual updates mean, aside from ones that coincide with interview requests. There have been patterns, but it's far from an exact science.

I had my alumni interview today and it was very casual like everyone else said. It lasted a little more than an hour. He told me it would last 20-40 minutes but continued to hold the conversation, so I feel that times vary. Unlike other posters I was asked to send one of my essays in advance and we discussed it for a little while. That made it interesting because he knew essentially everything about me before we even started.

I was accepted back in October. What percentage of Georgetown law alums go on to big law? I seem to find that Georgetown grads mainly do public interest or government. Anyone know anything to the contrary?

Might be because it's just federal clerkships, and those are hard to get. Maybe state clerkships count toward that public service number?

GULC just doesn't place clerks as well as some of the other higher-ranked top 14. For Federal clerkships in the T-14, these are the schools which have a greater than 10% placement:

1. Yale (34.7%)
2. Stanford (28.2%)
3. Harvard (17.8%)
4. Chicago (14.4%)
5. UVA (14.3%)
6. Duke (12.9%)
7. Penn (10.4%)

GULC is way way down the list.

Had my interview this week. Great experience. Woman was very informative about DC and Georgetown. Hardly any real questions.

- Why Georgetown?

Those were pretty much the only explicit questions that were asked. Very painless. Lasted about an hour. Go with loads of questions.
