Congrats to everyone!
I was held last year and I've been having a pretty good cycle this year but apparently NU isn't ready to make me a first round draft. I'm hoping that they have another round this or next week.

I know the acceptance letter told us to apply for aid as soon as possible, but will we receive any information about scholarship offers before we fill out any aid paperwork? If so, when should we expect to hear?
Thanks. Congrats to everyone who got in today and good luck to everyone still waiting.

Congratulations to all the admits. I also got accepted last night. 169, 3.4x... Looking forward to seeing about financial aid. Has anyone gone to visit the school yet?

Can you elaborate on what held was like last cycle? Do you know how many of those being held are actually accepted? And did you submit any additional materials (LORs, essays, etc) while being held? I'm honestly considering re-taking the LSAT in Feb to make my 169 above a 170 (can't believe I was one point off...)fivestarfolds wrote:Congrats to everyone!

I took the LSAT there and interviewed in person (I work in Streeterville). Beautiful building - half modern, half older. The view of Lake Michigan is one of the best in the city.crimson34 wrote:Congratulations to all the admits. I also got accepted last night. 169, 3.4x... Looking forward to seeing about financial aid. Re: Northwestern Law c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
I was held.
URM, 149, 3.25, straight from undergrad at UT
Everything else I did must've helped me.
Thinking about retaking the LSAT but Idk. That's in February. Sort of want to know asap whether I get in or not. Northwestern is my #1 choice.
I'm going to call them in two weeks and see if they can tell me what I need to specifically do to boost my app. Doubt they will.
Till then, updating transcript, sending two letters of rec, and continued letter of interests.
If I by the grace of God get into Northwestern, UChicago, and Harvard, I'll most likely choose Northwestern.
The love for the school and Chicago is too great. Plus, I'm not all about a competitive and arrogant environment lol

You should retake. I was held last year as a URM but I had higher numbers. I never got taken off the list and I rode it all the way until September.Luchi91 wrote:I was held.

Being held makes for a very emotional year. You are constantly wondering if this is going to be the day where you finally get validated that you're good enough for NU. Your numbers seem good so based on my experience, I'd be nervous about retaking the lsat and accidentally getting a lower score.carmensandiego wrote:Can you elaborate on what held was like last cycle? I have no idea how many got off hold last year. It seemed like there where many at first, some went to other schools and maybe a quarter to half of those who stayed on TLS eventually were accepted
Take every opportunity to write a LOCI that you are given. They made some last minute decisions last year and I skipped one of the chances to do a LOCI bc I had been exhausted by graduate school. In the end, many people were given the opportunity to write three LOCI throughout the year. The first after being held, the second after being wait listed, and the third just before a last round of late august admissions. The second one was a creative assignment where you could write about which fictional character you'd like to meet in real life (that's the one I skipped, a pretty stupid move for someone with a masters in the humanities).
I would also consider doing a campus visit to show that you're even more interested. Do a tour.
These recommendations are just based on some of the regrets I have after following this thread for the entirety of last year. Good luck and don't despair- people will be accepted until into the first week of classes.

Not to sound harsh but I would consider it the grace of God that you were even held. You must have some attractive qualities. Certainly retake that sucker!Luchi91 wrote:I was held.

Congrats to everyone! BOM and LS22, when did you guys submit? I'm trying to figure out how it took so long for me to go under review after being complete at the end of October.

Also accepted last night. Took me three hours to figure out that I needed to put an "L" before the LSAC number.
Congrats to everyone else that has been accepted!

Just saw all the admits, congrats! We just finished our first law school finals, including a 7 hour romp through Crim Law (for some of us). Hope more good news keeps coming.
