No, it's not part of the application, just something that many add to their application.theoutpostmhs wrote:hey guys. i'm confused about the why UVA essay. was it part of the application? I don't remember it being an essay option

It's been 8 days with no email for an interview. This makes me sad

Same I'm on my 30th day since I went complete. I feel like my numbers are at least competitive so it's a little disheartening.Will_McAvoy wrote:I'm on like 30 if that makes you feel better.Fiera wrote:It's been 8 days with no email for an interview. This makes me sad

1) Don't be disheartened, this cycle is moving slower than previous ones.Rangers5 wrote:Same I'm on my 30th day since I went complete. In!
Longtime lurker and beneficiary of the TLS community, now contributing my acceptance experience:
Went complete on 11/19 (RD) and received the email request to discuss application on 12/5. I called back as soon as I was able and answered a few general questions about my undergrad experience and current job before being congratulated on my acceptance. The discussion was very informal and I was somewhat surprised we didn't talk at all about my work experience, the subject of 90% of my application. Yesterday I received an acceptance packet that is more or less the website in book format, but way more tangible and exciting. I'm from the C'ville area and wrote a 'Why UVA.'
Good luck to everyone! Hope you hear good things soon!

Hang in there guys! These 30+ day waits must've been torture, but I wouldn't read too much into it since you guys are doing RD, especially if you think your numbers are competitive. Things have just been slow as people have said. I'm crossing my fingers for you all.Rangers5 wrote:

I'm doing ED so that leaves 7 days for either a rejection or acceptance. I would've thought they'd interview someone they were seriously interested in the 1st week so they have another to deliberate, so not exactly feeling good about this silence right now.

I did not hear back from them until around my 13th or 14th day as ED. I would not worry about it.Fiera wrote:andapieceoftoast wrote:Been complete since early October. Re: UVA c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Some hear back quickly for an interview. I did (but I was relatively early in the cycle) and others have been pushed past the 15 day mark even. Here's to wishing you the best of luck. Hang tight, at least your ride won't be as long as others. Hope to see you in c-ville!Fiera wrote:andapieceoftoast wrote:Been complete since early October. Re: UVA c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
In regards to the person who ED'ed with no word for 7 days, just hang tight. I ED'ed and I actually didn't get a response until 15 days after (submitted 10/29, went complete 10/30, didn't get word until 11/15).
It seems there are two types of interviews they conduct. One is a more legit one, where they interview you, wait some time, and then give you a response. The other one is where they interview, and then give you an answer right after. The latter interview is usually informal and short.
I had the latter interview, and she mainly talked about why I applied to UVA, why I went to the undergrad I went to, followed by why do you want to be a lawyer. She said my PS was moving, but aside from that, did not talk about anything else about my application. That was just my interview though.
Anyway, the general questions that seemed to be always be asked during interviews are: Why UVA and why lawyer. But as RC said in a previous post, be prepared to talk about anything about your application.

Hey everyone, sorry to ask if it has been ask. I was scouring the thread but 34 pages is a lot to go through during finals week. Are all status checkers pretty blank with the seat deposit information at the bottom? I went complete a little over a month ago and have simply not paid too much attention to the trackers details overtime

I was confused by the status checker not having a "current status" other than the thing at the top saying "your application is complete and under review." Looks from references in this thread like that's normal though, right?
