I got the admit call this afternoon, but didn't ask about scholly $$$. Would I have been told during the phonecall if I was getting $$$ from them? If not, when/how would I be notified?

To keep you optimistic, they told me nothing over the phone and sent me a full-ride in the mail.GoldHattedGatsby wrote:Thank you kindly Mr. Moodyluxurylawyer wrote:You will get a scholarship letter in the mail in a few days.GoldHattedGatsby wrote:I got the admit call this afternoon, but didn't ask about scholly $$$. Got excited when I saw a call from Twin Cities just now. I thought maybe, just maybe, Minnesota was calling to offer me a full ride.
Nope just a current student seeing if I had any questions

I don't understand why Minnesota doesn't tell us the scholarship amount over the phone. It's not like it's going to change before it arrives in the mail.

It seems like it wouldn't be that hard to include the scholarship value after it. UCLA does it!sublime12089 wrote:TripTrip wrote:I don't understand why Minnesota doesn't tell us the scholarship amount over the phone. It's not like it's going to change before it arrives in the mail.
The guy has to call every admit, which is likely several hundred people. he probably has a list of names and numbers and just runs through them as quickly as possible. I have phone banked for groups before, it fucking sucks. I have heard though, that if you call the office and give a good reason for needing it they will tell you.

yeah I'm really glad that the stats are looking better than the picture painted by TLSers haha. U Minn is my only credible acceptance so far this cycle. Riding WLs at BC GW W&L and UCD also though. So far, it looks like I'll be matriculating at Minn this fall. TBH I want big law and I spent my childhood in the NE so GWU is ideal for location and career path comparative to MN. Politics is something I would like to get into politics later in life so GW has an edge for me in that respect as well. But as of now, Minn has accepted me with an extremely generous scholly for my stats and no other school I'd actually consider over it has accepted me yet (GW or BC..and maaayybe UCD). If GW let's me in and gives me > or = 50% of Minn's scholly I would go to GW. If they accept me and give me no scholly or <50% of Minn's than I'd have to think about it. What about you?
I think we are like in the same boat. I'm waitlisted at a couple schools, got into a couple, but Minny is my best bet. They gave me a great scholly, which is awesome [and more than anyone else]. Unless I can give me a lot of play, looks like I'm going there.
Good luck to you with your other apps, friend!
Also, the employment numbers are really nice to see. Given the economy, and almost at 70%, is really comforting assuming that it's on the rebound.

I am wait listed at Minnesota. My scores are no where near the averages, but there must have been something about my application they liked. It is my dream to go here, as I am currently in the Carlson School of Management at Minnesota. Does anyone have any advice how to get off the wait list?

Visit the law school. Visit with the Adcomms. Write a letter of continued interest about wanting to attend the U for law school and wanting to practice in the cities. Retake the LSAT in June.

Withdrew myself from the waitlist. Hopefully it'll help thin the herd so cool TLSers get in off the waitlist.

I went into admissions today (I attend Carlson..the business school at UMN currently) but I guess they don't allow students on the wait list to speak with admissions, which I thought was weird. I am going to send an email stating my interest.
Thank you to those who withdrew! Hope that helps my chances!!!

Got scared away from getting an MBA, eh? Good luck! I'd say if you have a decent GPA just wait and retake in June/work for a year or two then retake. No reason to go straight out of undergrad. If you are really confident in your abilities and want to practice in the Cities you could also look to St. Thomas or Hamline (or William Mitchell)harve242 wrote:I am wait listed at Minnesota.
