Re: University of San Diego 2011
I got a call and am in off of a wait list at my reach school elsewhere... I will not be depositing, so there should be another seat for you guys. I'm still jealous of the weather - I'll be on the east coast where it's not half as warm!
Best of luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried to negotiate more money and they asked me to send copies of other schools' offers. Do you guys think it's completely hopeless if the other schools are not offering as much as USD?

Mmm... If you can show them that the cost of living is much higher at usd with their current offer vs.better school X that offered less but still has a lower COL, you might be able to get more.jagoo wrote:I tried to negotiate more money and they asked me to send copies of other schools' offers. I tried negotiating with them to raise my grant back in January, which they declined. But then I sent another email closer to the deposit deadline letting them know how serious I was and they raised my amount considerably. I got into similarly ranked schools and none of them offered much more than USD, but if you let them know how serious you are about attending they might take you just as seriously.

It's a postmark date, so you'll probably have to wait 2 weeks.CmonSD wrote:Finally the seat deposit deadline has come!!! Hopefully enough people decided not to attend and they will pull more people next week. *fingerscrossed*

Re: University of San Diego 2011
I was waitlisted on 4/7 and I was wondering if visiting the school will improve my chances of getting off the waitlist? Does anyone know if going there and talking to someone from admissions can actually make a difference? Will I automatically get to meet with an admissions officer if I take the tour of school or should I call ahead and ask the office?
Any tips would be very much appreciated. USD is beyond my top choice and I would do anything to get admission next year.
Thanks.

samtheclam, just schedule a student lead tour on their website. This lasts about 1 hour. A super hyper female tour guide will likely meet you. After that, just go to admissions and ask to speak with a counselor.

Already sent in LOCI after being wait listed. USD is definitely my #1 choice, but I feel that my LSAT score is going to keep me from being accepted. Do u guys think it is worth it to try and get a ad comm member to approve me for another LSAT? I have taken this test over 4 times and got a 157 4 times. I was testing in the 162-165 range but never came through on game day. USD already approved me to take the test a 4th time and I got the same damn score. Would it be worth the risk to ask them to allow me to sit in on the June test? I know that my score will not drop below a 157 for sure. Any and all input would help.

IMO, it's not worth it. A 157 is not a horrible score. Since you have taken the test three times already with the same result, you would have to make a big jump to make a difference (probably at least a 165).risktaker wrote:Already sent in LOCI after being wait listed. Perhaps you can take a different angle to get off the waitlist and ask the admissions office if more letters of recommendation would help the evaluation committee in their decision.
Good luck!

Re: University of San Diego 2011
Thanks dswimmer. I am leaning towards not re-taking, but it is such a bummer that my score hasn't even improved a couple freaking points when I am always scoring in the 162-165 range while PT'ing. Guess this happens to a lot of people though.dswimmer wrote:IMO, it's not worth it. A 157 is not a horrible score.
