Re: Georgia 2011 Applicants
Today I received a letter from the dean congratulating me, and a separate packet with a sticker and a tuition summary, and no mention of scholarships. I imagine that larger packet is where it's generally mentioned?
This saddens me, because even with the low tuition, I likely won't attend without any scholarship money.

I was worried since that packed discussed OOS and in state tuition, that it might be the only place where such finances were discussed.

Fwiw according to someone in charge of scholarships at uga said they are still in the initial award phase. I wouldn't lose hope considering high numbers.JenDarby wrote:Today I received a letter from the dean congratulating me, and a separate packet with a sticker and a tuition summary, and no mention of scholarships. applied 1/31, accepted 2/18 with large packet/decal. 5k scholarship w/ tuition equalizer makes UGA a very appealing choice, esp with stip of 2.7GPA. So far, my highest admit and a reasonable $$. How is athens COL?

Re: Georgia 2011 Applicants
I applied on the 15th, and was accepted last thursday. Yesterday I received one small envelope with a welcome letter from the dean as well as the larger envelope. Mine included a letter detailing IS and OOS tuition, as well as a letter offering me an in state equalizer. First acceptance, and I'm pretty pumped about it.
Does anyone think that the school would hook me up with some baseball tickets the weekend of the ASD if I contacted them and asked? My LSU tigers are playing the bulldogs that weekend.

Just went to a game this weekend, tickets shouldn't be hard to come by since prospects are bleak for UGA this year. They're only $5.

Re: Georgia 2011 Applicants
So... I am totally ready for UGA to stop jerking me around with the "Held for Further Review" line. I feel like this is worst than getting straight out waitlisted bc then you at least have a decision. I am starting to go a little nuts with all the status checking and and calling the admissions office. This is worse than waiting for my LSAT score in Oct. UGA is the main school I am waiting to hear back from to make my final decision.
...That being said, please don't waitlist or deny me, Georgia, I'll wait longer if I can get in...

Allgood is waaay too crowded, the drinks suck, and its overpriced. Nowhere bar is sketchy.pwleed wrote:Go to Nowhere Bar and Allgood Friday and/or Saturday night.plug1 wrote:So I'm headed up to Athens to poke my head around the law school this weekend. Magnolias, Sandbar, Boars Head, General Beauregard's, 9ds, etc. are all more fun, IMO. If you go to general's, get the dixie tea.

Re: Georgia 2011 Applicants
I'm a UGA undergraduate accepted for the fall (4.0/165). I first saw my acceptance online in the prospective student webpage. Then, I got email/snail mail. I received a scholarship in the mail a couple weeks after my acceptance.
If anyone has questions about UGA or Athens, I would love to answer them. I don't know much about the law school, but I do know things like where to live, cost of living, etc.
I am also looking for a female roommate for the fall. We have a three-bedroom townhouse with an open room. My other roommate is a pharmacy student. Contact me for more information!

I'm surprised that UGA didn't place a higher percentage of their grads directly into Big Law last year. Even Georgia State beat them out.

I know that this year's cycle hasn't quite matched up with last year's, but after looking at the decision dates graph, I think most of us who haven't heard back yet are doomed to the waitlist.

Re: Georgia 2011 Applicants
I was quite underwhelmed on a recent visit - felt very collegiate. Both Emory and GSU impressed me more. Will be saving UGA for a couple more weeks for scholly negotiation, but will be withdrawing soon. My dislike really surprised me...make sure you visit. I might just be too old for Athens.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
