Hmm, I was thinking sooner, rather than later, would be better, so they at least have a reasonable amount of time to review my app. Or is it possible that I am under review and the status checker just doesn't reflect that (I might have read that somewhere in this thread)?

That's what Jerseygirl said a while back: either the end of last week (obviously not) or the beginning of this week. And seat deposits are due in a month and a day not counting today, so surely they're all coming soon.

And for the record I'm convinced that "ready for review," "under review," etc., mean nothing.

Edit: Found where she said it: "Oh hello! Well, since you asked, I checked in with Admissions who are working very hard, even though it is spring break for students, and the official word is that the next batch of decisions should come about by the end of this week or Monday at the very latest." On p. 29 I think it was.

Supposedly. But I've gotten a lot of my stuff from Carolina around 7 p.m., so don't freak out thinking that just because you don't hear anything early in the day means you're not going to hear at all.

I wouldn't say as late as 7, but Dean States seems to like to send his stuff out in the afternoon, early evening. Usually after 4 PM.

That's the general consensus. There was a quote from an admissions staffer a few pages back saying something to the effect that status checkers are not updated in real time and that applications "ready for review" may very well be under review.

Of course, we all could have made a huge mistake.

There's some evidence for Beccabea's theory. A lot of mass emails from UNC go out starting around 7 pm every night. These include things like medical study participant ads (get paid to play video games/drink beer/lose weight), parking information, etc. So if the law school is planning on sending out a mass email, its likely that they'll do it in the evening.

Last time around, people's statuses went to "under review" for 48 hours or so before emails were sent out. No guarantee that the same thing will happen this time, given that the # of applications for this round are probably much greater.

FWIW, I went straight from Ready for Review to Admitted. If there was a change, I didn't see it.

To be honest, I had checked that morning then had class all day so I didn't check, then I got an e-mail at like 4:15 when I was in traffic on the cross bronx and bugged the fuck out.
