Well that's worrisome. I applied the 11th and am still processing.
Well, no worries. I applied 10/24 and have been processing ever since.
Seriously? 10/24? Did you call/email them?
I have not. If they get around to it, that would be nice. If not, well, I'm likely not going there anyway. I'll give 'em another month. Don't want to get in the way of y'all.

Okay so I'm just gonna compile random stuff I've found on LSN:

One guy from last year got a letter postmarked 12/1 on 12/7, he lives in NJ

"Update: On 12/8 received letter dated 12/1 postmarked 12/3 in big purple envelope. IN at NYU!!!" (ED)

An NYCer put 12/4 as his in-date.

NJ, OH, CO, NY: 12/5

So...we'll see?

Also, the year before that had its first wave of acceptances dated 12/11, but most people who commented seemed to report getting those letters in January.

I would freak outttt. Ahhh!

Thanks, that's helpful. So, likeliest scenario: they printed off our letters today?

Do RDers hear back the same time as EDers? This guy is an ED, is he not?

yes to RD may hear back at the same time as ED

it's been said several times on this thread that NYU releases decisions for ED and RD around the same time
that's why we're all so anxious :|

I was processing for literally exactly 2 months before going UR, so this doesnt seem that odd to me and I wouldnt worry about it.

So... I just got an e-mail from LSAC telling me my last LOR has been received. It's from my favorite NYU professor (whom I haven't seen in >4 years because she left NYU the same year I graduated). I asked her back in August but then didn't want to bug her about it because I have 2 strong letters from my employers and a letter from one of my FIT profs and I just assumed she couldn't come up with anything that didn't sound totally generic this long after teaching me.

I only submitted my employer letters to NYU. Even though they prefer academic LORs, I figured they would think it strange to include an FIT letter and no NYU letter. Worth a shot to add it now? Or wait to see if I'm WL'ed? (I should be an auto-ding for NYU).

It's funny, I was having similar thoughts last night and ended up staying up all night to write a supplemental interest essay for NYU -- my thoughts were: if I'm probably not going to get in anyway, this definitely won't HURT anything.

Although, the risk of sending additional letters is whether they'll actually add to your file or if they could be too generic to give you the boost. If you're confident it wouldn't be a negative part, it seems like adding a letter from one of their former professors would be helpful.

You and I are in same predicament. After I submitted my recs and application to NYU in early October, I had a one-on-one meeting with my ultimate boss (C-level) in November because he found out I was applying to law school and just want to hear about it. He wanted to write me a rec (he's an NYU law grad).

I decided not to submit this letter and was going to use it if I get WLed. My rationale was that I've already submitted two letters from my current boss and my previous employer. I've been out of school for 6 years and I thought my professional recs would serve better justice in desribing my skills than a professor who may not remember me from taking a class 8~10 years ago (since I've been out of school for so long).

I'm borderline WL so this was my approach, but if you're a strong admit with right numbers, maybe you want to take a different approach. GL!

I decided to submit; we'll see if it makes it. This prof is an NYU Law grad (as is one of my boss's who submitted), but I expect to be rejected (maybe I used auto-ding wrong, I thought it meant auto-reject...?). If I am fortunate to enough get waitlisted, I have one of my other FIT profs waiting in the wings to write an extra LOR. I'll ask him to specify the school in the letter, which I think will be more meaningful than this current letter that is not school specific.

Anyway, good luck, all! I hope you guys (well, except the NYC haters ;)) get pretty purple envelopes today!
