I think you should include the varying degrees of flexing. We can all agree this isn't a matter of yes or no.. but more a matter of extremity.
ime tls hates nuance but maybe it would be better here.
give me poll option suggestions. i wasnt sure of a good way to describe the various degrees of flexing.
just throw in a third option for indirect flex: friend posting for you or updating your school
- balls to the wall, no shame ultimate brag post (lots of "humbled" and #blessed, potentially including school rank and scholarship offer)
- low key announcement (heading to x, "thanks mom and dad for the support")
- recruiting a friend/significant other/mom or dad to post on your behalf ("so proud of so and so who is heading to XLS next year")
- subtle announcement (adding XLS to your education, changing location to XLS city in august)
- not announcing at all, maybe people will catch on when I post pics
- I hate everybody on FB and they can all eff off, none of their business
ok this is good.
although i think that a lot of ppl who make brag posts dont think theyre making brag posts. so more ppl will do something along the lines of of option 1 but not actually pick it.

the chillest flex would be to add your school to your fb/news feed in like November as if you were so busy living your best life that you forgot to update until then
i prob won't last that long but will wait at least until orientation

My S.O. is pretty determined on excitedly telling everyone we meet that I am going to law school in the fall.
I think they're 50% proud of me and 50% very unhappy that we are splitting up because i'm leaving for school and need to talk about it to some(any)one.

This is a real problem. When people ask me what my plans are (since I am currently unemployed) I tell them I am going to law school after my wedding. Then they inevitably ask where. It is hard not to sound pretentious when you are naming a few top school options you are deciding between.

Buy a cake with the inside the color of the school you're going to. Go on Facebook live with an "official announcement" in which you cut into the cake like a baby announcement. Since no one can discern what school it is by color, you reveal the t-shirt of your choice school under your jacket while the alma mater plays in the background. A banner unfurls behind you with your school's USNWR rank as well as its BL+FC percentage. Include links in the description to all pertinent pages, such as TLS and the school itself. Be sure to thank your mom, sister, cousin, friend, second grade teacher, whoever helped you reach this monumental decision because it is *huge* for you. As the Facebook live ends, change your profile pic and banner to the school's logo. No one will ever want to speak to you again.

One question has never been answered, is it over the top to fuel out a real life TLS banner based on post count?

It was always super awkward when I still had a bunch outstanding and they would ask where I had applied. I didn't even say the top ones I knew would be a WL.
Now I can just matter-of-factly say Duke and let them make whatever assumptions they want

tbh i'm not a fan of LS flexing but on the other hand, i feel like you should be able to flex as much about going to a great law school as all of the assholes who flex about their engagement, marriage, babies, anniversaries.
i also happen to think that i should be entitled to a gift registry for my accomplishments

I hate this. I went to a family part with my SO recently and shortly after we walked in he was like "So...are you going to tell everyone your good news?" and everyone stared at me...it was super awkward. I said where I was going and he followed me up with "she got xxx scholarship too!!" I was so embarrassed. I couldn't be mad because it was from a good place but just...come on.

I really should set up a gift registry and use it for textbooks. Amazon does registries right?

Gonna straight-up and shamelessly admit it: I bragged a lot but kinda made fun of myself while doing so. Made sure to keep it light and joke-y, called a school a "suitor" when they got back to me on Valentine's day, stuff like that. Everyone kept asking for updates and stuff, so I was like fuck it and started posting some acceptances (the ones people knew I was waiting on). Also I think it depends on your friend group. If a significant number of FB friends helped you with apps/LoRs/studying/etc., it makes sense to post updates.
Friends didn't seem to mind, and it actually was helpful cuz I got connected with people who were also applying or currently attending the schools I was considering. Also got lots of unsolicited advice, but hey, consequences of bragging.
Made an actual serious post for committing, though. Photo of me in my school swag in front of the law school and gushed about how much I love the people there and felt inspired by the school, all that good shit. I needed to announce that I was moving across the country somehow haha.
To each their own, honestly.
