I figured it was another normal day without any movement, so I didn't even bother checking until now, haha. Got WL'd at Mich (assuming YP for my ego) earlier anyway solaw_monkey wrote:Incompetentia!!! I was wondering where you were all day today!incompetentia wrote:Still forgotten.

Sorry about your WL. And there was some movement today, but obviously not for us. They still haven't found the right pony!incompetentia wrote:I figured it was another normal day without any movement, so I didn't even bother checking until now, haha. Re: Columbia 2011!
Status checker's last update is to Complete. Past that, it's worthless.
CLS officially is supposed to send all decisions (accept/ding) by mail, but they've started to release acceptances by email (which is what they have been doing with hold/WL).

Re: Columbia 2011!
I submitted early Jan. and haven't heard a peep from CLS. CLS is a competitive --> reach for me, so I'm wondering if I should submit a Why Columbia. They recommend against submitting additional materials after you've gone complete, unless they really are necessary...
Do you guys think I should do it? And does anyone know if Columbia accepts supporting docs through email?

Re: Columbia 2011!
basically, wait for a hold or WL. LOCI won't help otherwise anyway for an acceptance or a rejection. once you get a hold/WL, then you can submit it. more detail is in this thread and probably in held at columbia thread.jrose5 wrote:I submitted early Jan. and haven't heard a peep from CLS. Re: Columbia 2011!
First post here (or anywhere) for me but have been following this, Harvard, and Yale threads attentively for the last few weeks:
Submitted: 1/31
Complete: 2/3
Accepted: 2/25 (via email received 10:45am PST)
Very surprised at how quickly I received a decision due to how late I submitted my app (had major problems with LOR). Numbers quite strong, 175/3.8 but wasn't expecting a reply for at least another few weeks.
Good luck to everyone else still waiting!

Not in yet, but booking travel for NYU ASW and probably tacking on an extra day so I can hit Columbia, too. Admitted folks, what time do the Columbia events start on March 30? I'm deciding between flights that will get me to LaGuardia at 9:00am vs 1:00pm. Thanks.

Re: Columbia 2011!
Hey ya'all! I've been accepted and I''ll be at the second ASW.
I was wondering whether anyone knows how deferring affects your financial aid.
Is it true that you have to reapply for financial aid the next year, and don't get to keep any offer they give you this year?
I know in a normal cycle, you are more likely to get aid if you apply earlier (I didn't apply til January.)
However, if I am deferring, will I get less money because of it? Will Columbia give me the minimum since I signed a binding agreement and have to go no matter how much they give me, and because I won't have any other offers to leverage?
Thanks!!

Re: Columbia 2011!
I talked to someone who deferred and their financial aid rolled over, but they had a Butler. Fairly certain we'll have to reapply for financial aid, but if they offer me something this year, I'll definitely reminder email it to them saying I agreed to come based on this financial package.mcweanis wrote:Hey ya'all! Re: Columbia 2011!
This. Changes. Everything. (Maybe. I hope. OK, probably not.) I had written-off my chances at a Hamilton due to my late application date (February 2). Figured all the Hamilton money would have long since dried up by now. I'm now cautiously reupping my hopes.law_monkey wrote:So I just did some more LSN stalking, and there were a handful of people who got late decisions (I'm talking March and April!!! Yuck!!!) Anyway, it was a complete mix. There was someone who got in with a Hamilton in March and a couple other scattered acceptances. But there were waitlists and dings in there too. WTF is CLS's process??? No other school seems to have this much difficulty. I have my first ASW the second week of March. I'm calling that as my withdrawal deadline because I'm really going to be excited about other schools once I start visiting. CLS, you've been warned!!!
Some cursory LSN research reveals that only 8 LSN users have so far reported full Hamilton scholarships. While this is of course an incomplete sample, in the last two completed cycles on LSN (also an incomplete sample) 18 and 10 users reported full Hamiltons, for the '09-'10 and '08-'09 cycles, respectively. Perhaps there are a few left to dole out? Or perhaps they are scaling back the offers; economy and what not.

At first, I thought you were talking about the admitted students binder and I shrugged it off. And then I came home last night to find the so-called brick. Holy crap, you could build a pretty solid house if you had enough of these (or a new law school building). This is where the application fees go to.Non-Chalant1 wrote:Got my brick today...and the pendulum swings (yeah I'm easily impressed). But seriously, it's an impressive package.
