Re: American U
161/3.1 WL for FT and PT. I love DC, and all the opportunities there, so this is a top choice school. But of course I have no idea what my chances are at getting off the wait list. I'll be visiting in a few weeks so that I can write a LOCI about my visit. I sort of starting writing it already, but, the way it's written, it's rather risky. Basically says "This letter is express my continued interest...top choice....I want to get in so bad I considered calling the office daily and skywriting (true btw)... in law you have to take risks, I love your school. I'm awesome. Blah blah blah." I haven't yet decided if this is a good or stupid move. But, I almost feel like being on the waitlist, I have nothing to lose, and maybe it would get me noticed.
My other problem falls with the price, and the PT/FT thing. Since I've been WL, even if I get in, I won't get money, and they look at both my parents (divorced) tax returns, so I won't be getting financial aid either. I do have free housing with a friend, but I don't know if that will be enough to make this school affordable. If I go PT, I could work. But, I'm worried about handling work and law school. Anyone have any input on this really long post?

I would do the PT and work. While LS is tough, regardless, I imagine the FT program wouldn't be as tough as the FT program.
I've also heard that nobody really could differentiate/point out who's FT and PT as the PT program is certainly not an afterthought at WCL. And you could always transfer after your first year and make up a few classes prior to the beginning of your 2nd year.

Same. I went complete on 2/5 and my #s are 169/3.53 and 3 years relevant work exp. I'm annoyed bc I actually wanted to go to American, but not so sure anymore...set88 wrote:Yup. 168/3.71, applied early Feb. They'll probably YP us. Guess they haven't gotten around to it yet.kaydish21 wrote:Anyone else with higher numbers been waiting a lot longer than others it seems like? I applied mid Jan, was complete around the 25th of Jan or so. 169, 3.66. Curious...

Nice Jack's screen name. I was going to say mine is too. But I realized that this one isn't, but my name on another website is.holidayfromreal wrote:just withdrew, good luck everyone

Can you send a LOCI before you hear anything?

Re: American U
Go for the LOCI, but I wouldnt recommend it since you've sent in what they've asked you to. Right now they are reviewing files and I dont think they want more stuff.

Re: American U
If you mean merit scholarships/grants, I got an email about a week (or two?) after I was accepted, and then I got a letter in the mail (identical to the email) a week later.exitlane wrote:Anyone know when one hears about financial aid?
As for need based aid, I think someone said that it would go out before the deposits are due, but I'm not sure how that works.

Hahaha! People on here already know my desperation to get in off the waitlist.
American isnt my only option, but its my best option. Plus, I really genuinely like the school.
Oh well we'll see.

Re: American U
Smartblonde, if you get into American that gives me more of a reason to go. I LOVE blondes! Haha!
In all seriousness, Im hoping I can get off the waitlist. Im not sure how it works though. At first, is it strictly a numbers decision or will they go with those people that they feel really want to go? In other words, will they accept the 165 that didnt send in a LOCI or will they accept the 155 (not my actual score, just an example) that sent in a few?
Will they accept people from the top down or will it be a mixed bag? This is what scares me since I know that a lot of WL people have much better numbers than me. We'll see...

They will try to pick people who can afford the $200,000 plus for going to a DC school

I'm WL too. But tuition isn't more than $45k per year. Where are you coming up with $200k?

I was adding the cost of living in DC. Maybe you can do it for $180,000.

Re: American U
I am. AU was my first choice bc of its Intl Law program. Unfortunately though, I havent visited the school yet and wont be attending the conferences they have in March. Im currently abroad and wondering if I should come back to the states to attend the housing conferences they're holding in June/ July. Ive only been to DC twice and a lil shaky on the whole finding housing/roommates issue.lawlife2010 wrote:Who is thinking American?
