It was good to see Miami go up to 60. Most of the stats are impressive, but the 50% acceptance rate is a little high.

Haha you're from NJ too? I had the pleasure of being called "The Situation" for months because I'm from Jersey and named Mike. And its not getting any better with the show based in Miami this year.

I agree, if we can reduce the acceptance rate I think we'll continue to move forward at an impressive rate. Were only 11 points away from T1 status.
11 seems to be a lucky number for UM...just saying

Exactly. I asked them around April 1 about money being freed up and they still told me they were out of funds. Obviously even just looking at the people on this website, quite a few have withdrawn with scholarships.. what's going on?!?fcowrx wrote:Seems like a lot of people are withdrawing with scholarship offers and yet UM still tells me (today, late afternoon) that they have no funds to redistribute.mikeddaqb wrote:Just denied my full scholly. I'm from Somerset County in central Jersey...90% sure i'll be in Miami this fall, was very impressed at ASW and felt that the school was fairly honest about job prospects unlike ummm seton hall.

I put my deposit down this morning. I wanted to hold out a little in hopes they swing a scholly my way. What do you think is the likelihood that they throw schollys to those already signed up for fall enrollment.
If we can move be more selectivite then we could easily move up significantly next year. Anyone else read about the new dean? She seems pretty awesome.

How do I withdraw? Did they provide a form or do I just send an email? Anyways, I got into my reach and will be withdrawing freeing up a full scholarship so hopefully they give that to someone. I'm gonna miss Miami so much.

Im with you Junky, I threw like 6 offers at them plus an FSU admit and they did not budge. I have to believe with all the people just on TLS that are withdrawing with money there has to be at least a few open scholarships.trialjunky wrote:I put my deposit down this morning. She is awesome, and no, if you didn't get a scholly with your admission, sorry, but you won't be receiving one now- they simply don't do it

They give out more scholarship money than they have knowing that a lot of those people aren't going to accept their scholarship offers. So when people start withdrawing it's not necessarily freeing up money. At least that's how I think it works.

What's up TSLers? Just paid my seat deposit today. I'm from the South Florida area and real excited about making the move down to Gables. See you all in August!

I hope they've already sorted out the applicants and will send out more offers before weeks end.

Yea I was on there. I found the Realtor chat very helpful but it was hard to keep up with all three at once.

I didn't even know we offered this. Cool, and congrats!lawschool5523 wrote:I am!dancer330 wrote:Is anyone doing the J.D./M.M. (master of music) program at Miami?
The law school is right next to the Frost School of Music; in fact, we share a cramped, godawful parking lot. I don't mind one bit, because at various times throughout the day I can hear neato music and singing coming from Frost.

I missed it. Was there anything really important/useful that you remember? Where can we fill out a roommate request?

Re: In at UMiami
I was in the Realtor chat most of the time so it was mostly Realtors answering questions about properties and areas, then giving their email addresses and phone numbers. If you go in the relocation guide I'm sure its the same Realtors so they can answer any questions you have. They were mostly pushing Brickell, South Miami, and Gables to me.
The Roommate Referral Form can be found on the admitted students page (law.miami.edu/admitted)
