Just got my scholarship info today as well. Curious-- did any of you apply for need-based aid? I received a merit scholarship and a need-based grant. The merit portion of my award is very low, though. I wonder if the need-based grant decreased my merit scholarship at all.

Yeah, got 50k which is lower than LSN had me expecting but not horrendous for my stats (168,3.63). Still waiting on USC but really hoping they come through for me.

Just curious, outside of t14s, what other schools have been known to be helpful when negotiating at UCLA?

For example, I received almost 3 times as much at Wash U. I know they are ranked one spot lower and in a different location (and also known to be generous), but still... Would this be a decent negotiation tool or nahh?

I only got notified of my need-based grant today. My numbers aren't stellar for UCLA so I'm not expecting much for merit, but I still wish I could get some.

USC. UCLA and USC are sister schools. They are in direct competition with each other. They would probably be more receptive to a USC offer. Plus USC is fast with their offers.

They sent scholarship emails out today. A lot of people got low ball offers.

Another 70k recipient with better T14 and T20 offers elsewhere. Not mad but not a great feeling after a week of disappointing news.

Also, is it possible that not submitting FAFSA could have taken me out of the running for a merit scholarship? My numbers are good enough that I'd be surprised to get nothing.

Damn per LSN ucla has been pretty stingy so far. Not feeling as bitter about my WL. Hope you all can negotiate for more $$$

I would submit you FAFSA. I actually went to FAFSA today to make sure I submitted mine, Sure enough there it is 1/8/17. No Scholarship information for me yet. Perhaps there will be more information forthcoming.

I would negotiate right away, since they already have a certain yield in mind when making initial offers. You don't want them to start bumping up other people's offers and run out of money before you ask!
