Anyone know what % of students receive a need-based grant? Their website cites an 80% figure for aid, but I assume that is distorted by loans.

Berkeley told me their true figure is 10% which has me concerned about others.

You should compare Stanford with Harvard / Yale and not Berkeley.

Stanford is known for being the most generous. Still worried though

I disregarded Harvard because they have a pretty damning write-up about probable lack of eligibility given x income thresholds.

Agree Stanford's financial aid doc makes it seem one might qualify even with modest to decent income / savings.

According to their 509 report, 45.3% of students receive a need-based grant and the median amount is $24,163.

Stanford (along with HY) operates on a need analysis system for financial aid. Berkeley is generally merit based, with additional allowances made for need (like basically every non S/Y/H School).

You may be inclined to compare them due to geographic location, but when assessing or comparing likely aid amounts, Berkeley and Stanford are fundamentally different.

There are some various numerical analyses online but few resources other than each school's official website or the scant workups created by related professional organizations are reliable and verifiable.

Maybe it would help a few of people if someone did some fancy linking to a variety of such things to paint a more comprehensive picture?

As if though I needed more stress now they won't let me repeatedly check my status? Rude.
