JS1! Got the email around 2:00 PM CST.
Both GPA and LSAT right at 25% range, so wasn't confident I'd be receiving this opportunity! SO HAPPY!

Re: Harvard C/O 2019 Applicants
Ah. Yeah I posted a few weeks ago that it looked like possibly more JS1s this year b/c of a few low-stats (25th/25th) folks getting early offers (which would more likely come later/off WL). That was pure speculation though, I haven't looked at the spreadsheets to see if any low stats non-URM applicants got early JS1s in past years.cantorb wrote:I would have to research again but I remember seeing some interviews that they were planning on increasing it as the years went on, plus there was some analysis earlier in this thread that stats that are getting early JS1s this year did not get them in previous years. Can't promise that this is true, but it definitely seems logical.oliverotis wrote:Source?cantorb wrote:Solid analysis overall but that interview with Josh Rubenstein was when they were only doing phone interviews, which were generally considered a formality. Jessica Soban said in an interview when they switched to Skype (2012) that they were aiming for 1200 interviews, and by all accounts that number has increased. https://www.admissionsdean.com/research ... sica-soban.curious bobcat wrote:I suspect the estimates above are severely low-balling it. My optimism is obviously self-serving, but here are three reasons why I think the odds are pretty solid for JS1s so far...
1) The 2010 interview with Josh Rubenstein states HLS interviewed about 1,000-1,200 applicants, and they end up offering 900-1,000 acceptances. This puts JS1s, regardless of timing in the cycle, at 75%-95% acceptance. Admittedly, this was five years ago, but I can't find any evidence that they have ramped up their interviewing rate enough to justify the current speculation.
(http://www.top-law-schools.com/josh-rub ... rview.html)
2) According to our spreadsheet, the average numbers for JS1s this cycle is 175/3.88. According to lsn, candidates with those numbers are accepted at an 87% rate.
(https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... =3&vpid=A1)
3) A few pages ago, it was mentioned that somebody in last year's applicant thread estimated that Oct/Nov JS1s are accepted at a 95% rate, according to some TLS spreadsheet. Too lazy to go find that post, but it should be a few pages back--presuming it was not deleted.
In addition there were only 918 acceptances in 2014, which was significantly up from the 3 previous years (which were in the mid 800s).
Would be interested to read that interview if you find it.

I'm 75 percentile GPA, 50 percentile LSAT. I submitted Oct 7th and still haven't received an invite to interview. Should I start panicking?

I hadn't posted in this thread because I really didn't think I'd get an interview (I did, though!). Has anyone been offered admission yet?

Way too early to start freaking out. If you read the threads for the last couple cycles, there were people who waited months for a JS1 before it came. It's still pretty early in the admissions game.LittleGiants16 wrote:Feeling the same way...panli19 wrote:I'm 75 percentile GPA, 50 percentile LSAT. You foiled my master plan to nuke all my posts immediately after saying this. Now I'll just have to hack into your account and remove this, which I can obviously do since I'm younger and thus more techy.Dcc617 wrote:I'm quoting this so that Hilde can never take it back.Hildegard15 wrote: Listen to DC.
