Re: Duke Law c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
Hi, guys.
I am an international applicant. While filling out the application, I found something unexpected.
Duke seems to have an interview requirement only for international applicants.
And that interview seems to cost $150. I am not sure I am getting it right.
Will it be ok if I submit a TOEFL score instead of the interview?
Thanks

It definitely seems more prevalent than last year.xylocarp wrote:duke seems more YP-ish than normal this year... or maybe I just didn't pay enough attention in past years, but for some reason prior to this cycle I didn't think duke was big into YP
How do they determine who has genuine interest in Duke and who doesn't? Or who to PR due to YP? I don't think it's random, and it's also not like they just PR everyone who has great numbers and also didn't write a Why Duke...
Especially with the quick turnaround, I'd love to be a fly on the wall of their admissions office.

Re: Duke Law c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
I wanted to share a fun story, that I am sure for some people would have been horrifying. Got an email from Duke saying Congratulations, a packet will be arriving in the mail shortly, with a fed ex tracking number. Then a few hours earlier they sent a correction that it should not have gone out yet, and a notification that I was on PR.
I hate to think what some people would have done in those few hours (i.e., call family/friends) only to have to retract it all...

Any other provisional admits never receive that scholarship form that was supposed to be e-mailed to us in November?

There isn't anything in the acceptance email that says anything about a FedEx package...

Obviously I am not aware of what accepted looks like (and this was not explicitly an acceptance email, just seemed to imply it, and on day of decision has been made) but http://imgur.com/sdMVVgv was what I received.alenamarie wrote:Auxilio wrote:I wanted to share a fun story, that I am sure for some people would have been horrifying. To the people sympathizing, this happened a few weeks ago, and as I posted earlier in this thread I really had no intention of going to the states for Duke. Just didn't want to post it for fear of being outed, but then I realized I do not really care what Duke Adcomms know.

Has anyone received information about scheduling an interview for scholarships? I thought admits were supposed to get it in November...

I was accepted early enough that I actually received the financial aid form to fill out (it's one page, no essays so don't worry about it), and I have not received information about scheduling an interview.

Ok, thanks for the reply! I also was accepted early and received the form, but I am just waiting to hear something about scholarships... I was thinking about contacting the office to inquire about the interview...smile0751 wrote:matlan72 wrote:Has anyone received information about scheduling an interview for scholarships? I also haven't received the scholarship form yet. Hopefully it comes within the next few days. It might be that they are more backlogged with admission applications than they anticipated and they're having to delay the scholarship application process.Tuxedo wrote:I haven't either. I really love to apply, but that interview thing keeps holding me back.
I have a Toefl score but am not sure this will suffice.

It's how acceptance is for everyone who applied PT this year. You're "provisionally accepted" and then you receive an official acceptance after you apply for scholarships and complete the interview process for that. In the letter, it says you can also request your official acceptance now if you don't want to apply for scholarships.jw316 wrote:What's this?woodselle wrote:Just provisionally accepted and so excited!
