Such stands to reason. It's not like this is one of my 50/50 shot schools either, just hoping that interview can give me a major boost, lol.letitloose wrote:I gather it's a common circumstance. For us- complete date is important but not that important. complete now vs. late Jan will not impact admissions or fin aid.

Re: Northwestern Law C/O 2016 (2012-2013 Applicants)
Pointless calls like this to "nudge" them along when it won't actually accomplish anything at all just serves to hurt the applicant pool as a whole by distracting adcoms from their jobs, which is to render decisions for us applicants. It took me a month to get my interview set up, it had taken at least that long for other people who have posted in this thread. Just sit tight, if you haven't heard from them by about mid January then I would send them a polite email and ask what's up.UMich11 wrote:I highly doubt they will forgo an interview b/c they have already decided to deny you. This is not at all correct. While I'm not sure it would help move things along, it will not hurt the applicant pool as a whole.BigZuck wrote:Pointless calls like this to "nudge" them along when it won't actually accomplish anything at all just serves to hurt the applicant pool as a whole by distracting adcoms from their jobs, which is to render decisions for us applicants..UMich11 wrote:I highly doubt they will forgo an interview b/c they have already decided to deny you. As long as you're not annoying them with daily stupid questions, this won't hurt you at all. I called to clarify several things throughout my application/acceptance/deferral/scholarship process.

Personally, I not mad. Just saying that we need to trust that these people are professionals and capable of doing their job. If it's something really important/egregious then of course get in contact with them but when it's something that a number of people have been complaining about in the very thread you're posting in there is no point.

So, they're professional and together enough that there should be no clarification when there's a delay like that, but they're not professional and competent enough to handle emails about the interview process?BigZuck wrote:u mad bro?alwayssunnyinfl wrote:Bigzuck just gets really butthurt about the realities of the admissions process for some reason.Icculus wrote:

I think we're all forgetting that the receptionist who fields emails and phone calls is, in fact, the one making admissions decisions. Every call he or she takes is a ding for an otherwise qualified applicant.
Think of the otherwise qualified applicants, folks!

Re: Northwestern Law C/O 2016 (2012-2013 Applicants)
I visited a school recently and heard the director of admissions field two calls that sounded like they were answering things that were in the instructions on their app. Basic stuff. Can't imagine it was a good use of their time. Then again I didn't hear the whole question (obviously) so maybe it did necessitate a call. Also the office secretary was at lunch so maybe people who aren't making decisions don't usually have to field the basic calls.Icculus wrote:This is not at all correct. LOL
But yeah, I've done two interviews on campus so far, and the questions you'd overhear the secretary fielding were hilarious.
