This year it was $90 for both semesters.jayman6 wrote:How much is the commuter parking pass? Thanks.jbarl1 wrote:As a first year student you cannot park at the law school lot (it is reserved for faculty, staff, 2Ls and 3Ls). You can purchase a commuter parking pass and park by the stadium and then (1) walk to the law school (10-15 mins), (2) take the shuttle to the law school (kind of a long ride because it only makes a loop around campus one way) (3) take a bus to about a block away from the law school and walk from there (5 minute walk). The majority of students walk from the commuter lot. The majority of those who live in the White Course Apartments on campus take a free bus to about a block away from the school and walk from there. There is open parking in the law school lot after 4pm and on weekends. There are 4 buses and 1 shuttle that run for free all around campus, so once you are on campus, it is easy to get anywhere you need to go. Also, many apartments come with bus passes and you can easily take a short bus ride from an off campus apartment to the campus and then walk to the school. Hope this helps!jayman6 wrote:I have actually accepted my scholarship offer at Penn State and plan to attend the UP campus, at least for my first year. So, on a lighter note, I'd like information about parking. Is there a parking pass to purchase? Does the law school have its own lot? Is there generally open parking, or am I better off using public transportation?
Thanks

I believe I will be submitting my deposit tomorrow to attend Penn State. It's weird not having to check this website for status check updates or award notifications anymore

Withdrew today. Would have loved to attend Penn State but in the end I decided to not attend law school at all this year. To those who will be attending: it's an amazing law school and I'm sure you won't regret your decision. Hope a TLSer will be getting my scholarship $$$!!

Undecided between Penn State and Temple Law. I see good value in both, so help me out in deciding? I'd love all the input I can get.

For some reason people on this site tend to lean heavily toward Temple. I obviously vote for PSU, but if you have a strong desire for Philly, you may want to consider Temple. Good luck with your choice!brangara wrote:Undecided between Penn State and Temple Law. I see good value in both, so help me out in deciding? I'd love all the input I can get.

Re: Penn State 2011 Applicants
My experience? Not really. I think there's a bus that runs, but it's pretty irregular and I've never taken it. Most people have cars here. That being said, Carlisle is a pretty walkable town (there are sidewalks everywhere, most people live maybe 15-20 minute walk away at most) and quite a few people walk to school regularly (except when it's bitter cold/snow, or pouring rain, obviously). I also bike some days, depending on the weather. So for an internship, I'd say a car is pretty much a must have. But most of the time, shouldn't really need it.alexanderhamilton wrote:Is there public transport between Carslisle and Harrisburg?

Will we receive a notification that our seat deposit has been received? I'm the type that worries it will get lost and I'll lose my seat and scholly $$$.

To be honest I actually do not remember whether I received confirmation or not. Unless someone else on here remembers, give admissions a call to ask if they will confirm, or call in about a week to confirm that they have received it.jayman6 wrote:Will we receive a notification that our seat deposit has been received? Re: Penn State 2011 Applicants
It's a postmark deadline. So, if you're really paranoid send it registered mail. But I have to say we haven't lost any that I remember.jayman6 wrote:Will we receive a notification that our seat deposit has been received? The quickest way to know the deposit has been received is to utilize the Online Status Checker. Just like other status updates, changes will be reflected immediately when processed. We typically process deposits in the morning and make all the updates at once. So, most days by noon the status will change.
I should say that the deposit deadline will be strictly enforced. So far, deposits are up significantly which probably impact our ability to honor original scholarship offers after the initial deadline passes.
Our general policy regarding deposits is to accept commitments from admitted students as long as space is available in the class. However, initial scholarship offers expire with the initial postmark deadline. As I indicated earlier we'll assess eligibilty for scholarship funds when the student deposits or contacts me indicating they want to commit. We won't guarantee a scholarship award at all for late depositors but will do what we can to make original offers available. This determination will be directly related to what portion of our scholarship budget remains after initial deposits.

Re: Penn State 2011 Applicants
I was waitlisted, but am counting on getting pulled off it eventually. My question pertaining to this is whether I would have any chance of receiving financial aid if I do get in, because my fafsa has been in since february, but I haven't had a chance to put my parents info on it yet.

Re: Penn State 2011 Applicants
I was wondering if some of the current Penn State students could talk a little more about housing. Most of the remaining off campus housing is around $700-800 a month . . . is this reasonable? I would like my own apartment for my first year.
Also, does anyone know much about Briarwood Aparments?
Thanks!

Re: Penn State 2011 Applicants
That is a very standard price for your own one bedroom in the UP area. I don't know anyone who lives in Briarwood, but I have looked at them online and they seem ok. Check out Copper Beech Townhomes and Toftrees apartments for places in the $800 range and Vairo Village may have some places left as well. Also look on Craigslist for places that people are listing as their current leases expire. If you find a place you are interested, I would grab it quick because it is really getting to crunch time when everything is going to be filling up.tschannena wrote:I was wondering if some of the current Penn State students could talk a little more about housing.
