Re: Northwestern 2011 Applicants
I am interviewing for a part-time job tomorrow, which I am pretty sure I will get. I also have begun volunteering 5-10 hours a week at the local ACLU. Should I write a letter to update Northwestern since they are so heavy on work experience? Or would doing so kick my file out of line and put it in the back again? Also, any thoughts on whether to do this for other schools I am still waiting to hear back from? Thanks.
LOCIs are a pretty good idea at this stage, especially if you feel you're a borderline application. I don't think it kicks you "out of the line" -- rather, it encourages them to revisit your app.

Re: Northwestern 2011 Applicants
You should most definitely send them an update because, as you said, they really value WE. As long as you're in, Who cares if you get your decision later than you were going to!! Although I doubt it, this could push you over the edge into an acceptance. It might not help but it certainly won't hurt.Flips88 wrote:I am interviewing for a part-time job tomorrow, which I am pretty sure I will get. Would it be bad to send a LOCI without even being complete?

Just wait until next Thursday. Seriously. They can't reject you if they haven't even gotten to the "review" stage yet, so you have some time!rbarcelo9 wrote:Would it be bad to send a LOCI without even being complete?

FYI from Twitter:
tweetsbyjohann All decisions for today are out. It was a very small batch this week. We are looking at a much larger group next week.

Does the status checker go to "review?" So far they've seemed to mess mine up. It says "incomplete" even though I emailed them and they told me i'm complete.whathojeeves wrote:Just wait until next Thursday. Seriously. Sad. But still better than rejection/denial. I'll be happy to receive one in April if that's what it takes....

Re: Northwestern 2011 Applicants
No, it doesn't go to review, but it does go to complete, and as the OP stated (s)he's still waiting for the interview to process and the file to go complete. I don't think it makes a lot of sense to do a LOCI a week after your interview, especially if the interview details haven't been added to your file yet.Flips88 wrote:Does the status checker go to "review?" I disagree. A ding from NU would finally let me cross Chicago off my list of cities, meaning I can be sure to be in a warmer place than this going forward. With no news I'm left in purgatory (even though I recognize there's close to nill chance I'm getting in).dcwumpus wrote:Agreed.krad wrote:No news is better than a ding any day in my book

Re: Northwestern 2011 Applicants
I need a Chicago choice due to SO reasons, and NU as a school has impressed me as much or more than any other school where I have a decent shot. Don't want to cross it off my list...

Re: Northwestern 2011 Applicants
My application is complete as of last week. Would LOVE to go to Northwestern. Definitely my top-choice school. I accidentally left 5 words highlighted in yellow in my personal statement. Hope it doesn't hurt me! My LSAT is better than 75%, GPA at median and 5 years WE abroad. I'll let you know how things go! Eight weeks seems like a LONG time to wait!

That would be my dream! Not sure how I did on my interview - kind of floundered on the "why law" question and the "community service" question. Not sure if that affects anything.Hannibal wrote:Sounds like you should get in with money.LHC wrote:My application is complete as of last week. Would LOVE to go to Northwestern. Re: Northwestern 2011 Applicants
Sorry if this has been answered before . . .
My complete date changed today from 1/? to 1/21 (can't remember exact original complete date but it was early Jan). Along with that, the verbiage changed on the status checker page. I don't know what it said before, but today it just says something like, "Your application was received on ##/##/## and is complete as of 1/21/2011." It used to say more. Is this normal?
Oh wells, I guess I'll just have to wait an see what this means . . .

Re: Northwestern 2011 Applicants
I wouldn't worry too much about the interview, it seems to have the potential to help you more than to hurt you, and your numbers and WE are solid. I thought I flubbed both questions too, especially because I was completely unprepared for the "community service" question, but apparently it didn't end up being such a big deal. Good luck!LHC wrote:That would be my dream! Not sure how I did on my interview - kind of floundered on the "why law" question and the "community service" question. Hi everyone! This is my first post on TLS.
My time for NU is up this Wednesday too! Although waiting sucks, I'm quite pleased they haven't given me the boot yet!
