IN with $45K over 3 years or 15K per year. I am pleased but also a bit disappointed because if it was 20K p/y I could safely say Emory would be my final choice.
Will Emory negotiate? Any students know anyone who raised their merit award? I also got 20K p/y from Minnesota today so I would love it if Emory could match their offer.

According to that email we got a few days ago scholarship decisions are final, but I don't know how true that is in practice.HelltotheNo wrote:IN with $45K over 3 years or 15K per year. Re: Emory 2011
I looked at LSN again and it is blatantly clear that Emory gave out more $$$ last year than they are this year. That is a fact. I am a bit confused as to why they are skimping a bit this year but it is a tad disappointing. It looks like ND and WUSTL will move up my list.kjadkins wrote:According to that email we got a few days ago scholarship decisions are final, but I don't know how true that is in practice.HelltotheNo wrote:IN with $45K over 3 years or 15K per year. No mail for me and I'm in Atlanta. Looks like I'm going to be waiting for the next batch.

Where do you live, if you don't mind telling? Also, did they mail to your perm or temp address?HelltotheNo wrote:IN with $45K over 3 years or 15K per year. I am pleased but also a bit disappointed because if it was 20K p/y I could safely say Emory would be my final choice.

They said in my letter, "You have been accepted in batch 1" or something of the sorts.

If true, I think it's going to blow up in their faces. They can't wait this long, not throw a lot of cash, and expect the strongest applicants to come...HelltotheNo wrote: I looked at LSN again and it is blatantly clear that Emory gave out more $$$ last year than they are this year. 75,000 for 166/3.8? those cheapskates.
(that is IN NO WAY an insult to the person w/ 166/3.8. those are great stats that absolutely deserve the money, especially if that person is interesting).

Did anyone elses letter have Mr.XXXX crossed off in pen and their first name written in on top of it, in pen?
Go to LSN and see for yourself. Your example makes no sense other than the fact that last year 166/3.8 was getting 81K instead of 75K.

if you're of the opinion that statistics alone = money, then sure, your narrative makes a lot of sense. i'm just telling you, i'm here right now, and people whose numbers are not as good as others' have bigger aid packages. it's not so cut and dried. and if you think it is, and if you think lsn is tantamount to reliable, hard data, then i don't know what to tell you.HelltotheNo wrote:ze2151 wrote:HelltotheNo wrote:

Re: Emory 2011
Alright. When I go to LawSchoolNumbers.com and look at last years applicants I see A Lot of individuals with 166/3.5, 167/3.2 getting 54000-60000 per year. From the data this year I am seeing people with 167/3.5 and 167/3.3 getting only 45K per year. Is it each and every applicant? No. IS there a distinguishable pattern? Absolutely. Are they offering less this year? Yes, they are, or at least early signs point to yes.ze2151 wrote:if you're of the opinion that statistics alone = money, then sure, your narrative makes a lot of sense. i'm just telling you, i'm here right now, and people whose numbers are not as good as others' have bigger aid packages. it's not so cut and dried. and if you think it is, and if you think lsn is tantamount to reliable, hard data, then i don't know what to tell you.HelltotheNo wrote:ze2151 wrote:HelltotheNo wrote:

It said something about being 1 batch or 1st decisions or some shit. When I get back to the house I will gladly type it verbatim. Actually, I will post a screenshot.

You could just call your mom and ask her what it says, that usually works well in this thread.HelltotheNo wrote:When I get back to the house I will gladly type it verbatim. Actually, I will post a screenshot.

I'm looking at the letter right now - no mention of first batch or first string or varsity or anything like that.
As for scholly, they may be cutting back with the rising cost of gasoline. Those "free" kegs in the courtyard arent going to deliver themselves.

Re: Emory 2011
If that is all you were saying, there wouldn't really be a conversation. But you said Emory is offering less money, and that it is a fact, not "early signs point to yes." I'm telling 1) you there's no way you can possibly know that with the information you've got, and 2) My experience tells me that LSN tells an incomplete and inaccurate story, at least in Emory's case.HelltotheNo wrote: Alright.
