Yeah you're not going to get very much money from either Hastings or Davis. Hastings gave me more than Davis was offering (last year) for what it's worth.

Also cost of living is not that much higher at Hastings - if you live in the East Bay instead of in the city. Something to think about.

yeah I live in the East Bay with roommates and my share comes out to $425/mo. + utilities

BART fare is around $250 per month.

Well I live at the absolute end of the BART line (dublin/pleasanton), and they charge by the distance. I believe I pay $12.00 per day to go to class. It does seem very steep, but if you figure my Rent + BART = around $675/mo., then it is still a bargain compared to the cheapest Tower housing at around $1000/mo. I figure it would cost me around $30.00 per day to drive instead of BART (SUV gets 16 mpg/$6.00 bay bridge/$8.00 Hastings parking garage = around $30/day). Plus BART is faster and I can read most of my cases while sitting there.

If you live in the Tower you likely won't be using BART much. Most of the travel inside SF is done with MUNI trains or buses. BART mostly goes to the East Bay and the SFO airport. I know Hastings has a hugely discounted MUNI monthly pass for students, but I do not know how much it is. I think its like a 50% discount or something.

Er, just to clarify, Hastings doesn't offer any sort of discount on MUNI passes. They're $60 for MUNI-only (no BART access) and a bit higher if you want a pass that gives you access to BART within the city. That's the same rate you get anywhere else you would buy a pass.

I received a small envelope with a letter saying that I was in...Weeks later, I received an admission packet that detailed things like housing and financial aid, and weeks after that, they followed up with an Admitted Students Day email.

Just read through the thread a little - sorry to all the WLs, I know how much it sucks. Take solace in the fact that one of my TLS friends got in off the WL a couple weeks before school started. If you want to get in, send multiple LOCIs, chat up the admissions staff, do anything possible. Seriously. We have a huge class, so her admittance would have been a surprise if she weren't so amazing.

I dunno. My mom read me the rejection letter over the phone. But she tends to joke around a lot. I'm going home tomorrow to see for myself. Went to a top undergrad, but graduated 2 years early. That might have killed me.

I want to go to Hastings so badly. I know I'm an auto-reject, but my face would light up like a kid on Christmas for the WL. I'm abroad, is everything strictly snail mail or should I expect an email too?

Also curious about this. I really can't get a feel for the timeline based on the past few pages and LSN. I got my "complete" e-mail 12/1 and haven't heard anything since.

Also, noticed a lot of people were being e-mailed their WL decisions. Have admits and rejections all been via snail mail? Looks like a lot of people have been hearing back the past few days. Unfortunately, my numbers are not very Hastings-friendly...

I was waitlisted yesterday too My numbers are 163/3.76. I want Hastings!!! I guess I'll be sending LOCI(s). Do you think a visit to the school would help?

at least you have a chance at retaking the LSAT and doing better. i myself as a splitter with a 168... will be screwed no matter what since my GPA is too low. other then to attend another school for a couple of years at another degree then go to law again for 3 more years?... which isn't a real option in my opinion...

heh. I worked decently hard in undergrad and my gpa is still slightly below the mean or the median or something for my school. oh well. (and yet another reason I want to go to a school that's not quite the best I could get int0)...
