My interview was actually really fun. Alums of Vandy seem to think it's the best thing since sliced bread (good sign). The interview was 3/4 her telling me about her great experience, 1/4 me telling her why I liked Vandy. They're supposed to be short, but it went an hour. You'll have a great time, definitely don't stress about it.DrGuano wrote:I sent in my interview request early November. Just got contacted today about it. Kinda excited about Vandy. Hope its a fun interview

Got the official waitlist letter today
DM 1/7. I think someone may have already mentioned this, but I'm really glad everyone on TLS had a good read on this. Expecting the letter in the mail did make it a little easier to handle.

are you going to stick it out on the waitlist to see if you can get in and get some money?

Penn is harder to get into than UVA. is UVA your number choice and you would be just trying use ED to make it more certain that you'll be admitted?Chromakey wrote: I know. Its seems from previous cycles that Vandy's not too fond of splitters and if I wasn't good enough to accept the first time around, I wonder about the possibility of money. I was going to ED to UVA today, but now that I got the call from Penn I'm not sure what to do. Its been a roller-coaster of emotions today.

Re: Vanderbilt 2013
1/7, WL today, for those who said it mentions they will start making decisions in weeks, the letter appears to be a form letter sent out throughout the cycle. It goes on to really say they will begin using the WL in May, "May through June is the most likely period," after which they add it can be as late as august. So I don't think they mean weeks, I think they mean May-
Don't know if someone else quoted already but, "This year's applicant pool is very strong... we have approached the limit to the number of offers of admission available to us at this time."
Anyway, glad to be WL'd, my numbers could have been straight reject (median LSAT, way below 25th LSAT, but non-trad.) I do think my interview probably helped get me on the WL, and maybe with luck might get me a look down the road if all they need is someone to hold the LSAT median...

DR 1/12. I don't know whether to be scared or excited. Anyone else with a 1/12 decision date? Hoping for some compadres with strong numbers so I don't worry too much.

I just checked, DR 1/12, I'm not going to be making you feel all too much positive. 165/3.82.dakatz wrote:DR 1/12. I don't know whether to be scared or excited. Anyone else with a 1/12 decision date? Hoping for some compadres with strong numbers so I don't worry too much.
But, you are having a great cycle right? So maybe this is good news?

The cycle has been relatively good so far, though two of my very top choices both rejected me. But I guess I'm in no position to complain. Though I'd really like good news from Vandy. Problem is, I don't think my interview went very well and its gonna come back to hurt me.Veritas wrote:I just checked, DR 1/12, I'm not going to be making you feel all too much positive. 165/3.82.dakatz wrote:DR 1/12. Joining the 1/12 crowd as we take our places against the wall. I would bet money this is a reject group.dakatz wrote:DR 1/12. I don't know whether to be scared or excited. Anyone else with a 1/12 decision date? Hoping for some compadres with strong numbers so I don't worry too much.

Hmm, I'm not so sure its all bad news, because I still feel pretty good about my chances, even without a stellar interview. My stats are right around their medians, and thats not even taking into account whatever URM status I may hold. Not gonna accept defeat until the rejection letter is in my hands.Notor wrote:Joining the 1/12 crowd as we take our places against the wall. Re: Vanderbilt 2013
Yeah, but you are below median with both GPA and LSAT. So far our crew appears to be non-URM's that are splittering. It's not looking good.dakatz wrote:Hmm, I'm not so sure its all bad news, because I still feel pretty good about my chances, even without a stellar interview. Re: Vanderbilt 2013
At this point in the process, there's a higher likelihood that it's a mixed batch. Think about it: You lasted this long, so you were a tough call. Some of you might fall into the admit pile and others into the other. This appears to be the pattern at the other schools I've kept an eye on.. Big batch of acceptances, big batch of rejections/WLs, mixed batches from there on out...
Good luck to all of you!

Looks like WL city according to last years LSN graph. All our stats were WLs.

Re: Vanderbilt 2013
When I plug in the LSN stats on last year's Vandy URM's, every single one with my numbers or above got in, so I'm gonna cling to that until they reject me. Hell, I'm an east-coaster, and barring a big scholarship, I doubt I would leave this region anyway. I just want an acceptance if for no other reason than to boost my confidence.
