I can add to the splitter speculation.
Just went IR on 1/14 and I'm 169/3.1 + Peace Corps
How long does it seem like people have been 'In Review?' When should we hear? Also is it email or snailmail?

Re: USC 2010!
I got a Rothman invite this week from USC (sent in my app in mid-Dec). Anyone know if USC ends up denying admission to people they invite to apply for the Rothman? Or do they ask all applicants to apply for the Rothman.
Trying not to get my hopes up. So far Univ of San Fran is the only school I've been accepted to.

You have a 170/3.8 - I think it's okay to get your hopes up here, lol.existenz wrote:I got a Rothman invite this week from USC (sent in my app in mid-Dec). And judging by last cycle's posts, it does seem that everyone who received the Rothman invite ended up getting in.

Re: USC 2010!
I went IR 12/21. I went to DR sometime last week (too lazy to check), but you don't know anything until the letter comes via snail mail (I just got mine a couple days ago). Oh amd don't panic if you see a small envelope from USC... good things sometimes come in small packages and that is the case with USC.jbrowning82 wrote:I can add to the splitter speculation.

at least 2 weeks to about 4 weeks seems to be the norm. then another few days to receive the letter in the mail. but yea... i think i am correct about USC dumping all the splitters in to one IR group.jbrowning82 wrote:I can add to the splitter speculation.

Sadly according to last year, USC did not let in almost any splitters at all. (167-170LSAT and lower the 3.3 gpa group) Only chance that we splitters have is that USC wants to raise their LSAT median this year, (their 75% lsat = 167).
I think we have a pretty good chance at this though. Both UCLA and Texas has an LSAT 75% of 169 and 168. USC is falling behind... not only that, Irvine (new law school) matched the profile of USC's incoming class.
I know this is all speculation, but at least i got the splitters on 1/14 right, and let's all hope that i'm right about this as well.

Online status checker says that the "Decisions is Finalized"
Has anyone been rejected or waitlisted and had their online status checker tell them immediately? I'm trying to decipher what this means as I hover around my mailbox hah.

Re: USC 2010!
earlier there was a post that someone was rejected. this person does not appear on LSN, and it seemed to be their first post ever. i would take it with a grain of salt unless this person re-appears and affirm their rejection with more information.
on LSN there is one rejection with 175/3.74. but the only reason this person was rejected was because this person broke columbia's ED and tried to use it as leverage against the other law schools. beware that schools do communicate with each other regarding ED and they do take it seriously.
so far there seems to no rejections or waitlists...

Re: USC 2010!
Nope, I fit exactly that range of splitter numbers (above 75th LSAT, below 25th GPA) and am still just complete since back in Oct.finalaspects wrote:at least 2 weeks to about 4 weeks seems to be the norm. then another few days to receive the letter in the mail. but yea... i think i am correct about USC dumping all the splitters in to one IR group.

Re: USC 2010!
i didn't mean that they gathered all the splitters that applied to USC. just whatever splitters they decided to look at, they put them in that one group. i'm sure there will be other IR groups that contain more splitters. but for all i know this splitter group was meant to be all rejections... USC is not known to like splitters much...ruleser wrote:Nope, I fit exactly that range of splitter numbers (above 75th LSAT, below 25th GPA) and am still just complete since back in Oct.finalaspects wrote:at least 2 weeks to about 4 weeks seems to be the norm. then another few days to receive the letter in the mail. but yea... i think i am correct about USC dumping all the splitters in to one IR group.

Yeah, that wall around 3.4 is pretty solid, so most splitters will be rejects or WL's I imagine, whether told that now or later...finalaspects wrote:i didn't mean that they gathered all the splitters that applied to USC. just whatever splitters they decided to look at, they put them in that one group. i'm sure there will be other IR groups that contain more splitters. but for all i know this splitter group was meant to be all rejections... I got my rejection in the mail today. It said that they would be unable to accomodate me in the Fall 2010, but encouraged me to apply for Spring 2011. It kinda softened the blow...
Has anyone else gotten a rejection letter to the same affect?

Re: USC 2010!
Well hopefully they were sincere about that and not just trying to capatilize on us vulnerable rejects... sucking out some more application fee dollars. Because i intend to reapply.
Wait... In my dissapointment I mis-read... it says they accept transfer apps for fall 2011 in the May 2011.

Dinged yesterday. 3.46/165, good softs. Got the same "reapply as a transfer, we encourage you to do so" letter as one poster above mentioned.
Good luck to everyone waiting for their letters.

Just astonishes me how fine the line is b/w rejection and Rothman invitee. My # are better, but not that much better. This cycle is crazy and makes less and less sense to me
good luck with the rest of your apps

Ya, I can't imagine I have a chance anymore after some of the rejections.
