No scholarship is enclosed. It says that if you are awarded a scholarship, you will be notifed within a few weeks. Somewhat vague. On a sidenote, I was impressed with the admit package - probably the most comprehensive one I have received so far.

For thos who are applying to the Sumner scholly what kind of pic are you using? I'm torn b/w a fun pic of me biking on the beach or a boring headshot. Thoughts?

I was browsing George Mason's FAQ earlier and I came across the financial aid section. According the their website, GMU does not require their law students to provide parent's financial information on the FAFSA. I was under the impression that you HAD to do this. I thought it was like...Federal law or something...at least until you were 24. Obviously, I was mistaken. Each school makes up their own mind as to whether or not they'd like you to report parent's financials.

Does anybody know what SMU's policy on this is?

I'm going with the goofy smile headshot. Not quite the fun pic, but slightly less boring than a headshot with a non-goofy smile.

Nobody has to fill the parents' section for the FAFSA. If you are applying for graduate school or anything above undergraduate, you are considered independent to FAFSA.

Is anybody applying for the Sarah T. Hughes Scholarship and did you have any trouble writing a 500 word essay? I'm working on mine right now but I'm finding it difficult to write 500 words on what should be a simple answer to a simple question.

(Also I realize the scholarship is for minorities but I hope that's including non-URM minorities?)

Does anyone know the answer to either of these questions?

You might want to call and ask about that scholarship if you're not URM. I believe it is only for URM-type minorities, but I'm not certain of that.

Yea I should call tomorrow about that. And I'll report back for anyone else who cares to know this information.

I'm sure this has been covered in this thread at some point, but I didn't want to have to read through every post again. Can a PT student transfer into FT at some point in the future, ie after the first year? Thanks!

Racial minority? I'm over 30 - is that a minority?

I remember that she said something other than just ethnic minority but to be sure I would just call and ask about that. Sorry I can't be of more help!

I know URM typically means African American, Hispanic, or Native American. So opening it to minority applicants in general would increase the pool.

I got moved from EA to Regular Decision pool of applicants for reasons I can't seem to understand. Anyways, have any RD applicants heard back yet?

Many RD have heard back, i went complete late October and just got my package this week. However, people who went complete much later were accepted much earlier than I did.

Anyone have an idea of how long it takes to get scholarship information? I know they say a few weeks, but can anyone tell me how long after your phone call that you got it?

I don't think anybody's received scholly info yet. I'm sure someone will post on this thread when they receive a scholarship letter. They said during the phone call that scholarship decisions would be made "over the next 3 to 4 weeks and sent shortly thereafter". So we should be getting there pretty soon.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
