Re: 0L Ladies - Female C/O 2019 Applicants
I think there may actually be a slight bump at other schools as well. One of the male applicants here and I have almost identical stats. We sent our apps in at roughly the same time, but I've been admitted to several schools where his apps are still pending, and I've been waitlisted at one school that dinged him. My scholarship offers have been a little better for the most part as well. I feel kinda bad about it to be honest
it sort of feels obvious, you know?

I wouldn't feel bad. In undergrad the situation is reversed where men get the bump cuz there are more high achieving female applicants. http://www.browndailyherald.com/2012/04 ... nce-rates/Scalvert wrote:I think there may actually be a slight bump at other schools as well. Lurker just checking in! As someone with a framed "Ovaries Before Brovaries" print, I wholeheartedly love this thread and its Leslie Knope gifs.

Another sorority girl checking in! KD Lady! I don't have mine on my resume as I worried about judgemental nonsense, but I am glad to know a lot of you girls are doing it with success!

FWIW here's mylsn charts by sex for Duke admissions and here for UVA.
So despite the Duke 15 dramatic gender split (which gave us this beautiful thread!) they give a slight but distinct advantage to females. UVA too, though, sidenote, what even is going on, UVA?

Kind of hard to compare, so I went and made a tool to (hopefully) make comparisons easier. You can try it at http://mylsn.info/compare_graph.phpSomeElleWoodsJoke wrote:(Also originally question I came here for)jumbo2016 wrote:I've read on here that there's no boost for being female even though at most top schools women are underrepresented. Since it's new, please let me know if you encounter any trouble. Here are two sample graphs (they're the same, actually, just inverse) - although there is a noticeable difference, actually doesn't seem that strong.

Anywho, best of luck to all of you with applications!

Any body else having anxiety over paying for all their ASWs?
Any ladies headed to the UVA Open House who might be interested in splitting an Airbnb... pm me. Stipend is so not enough for travel and lodging

My consultant said business casual for an independent visit I had recently. I wore slacks, a blouse, and a blazertappatappatappa wrote:Any ideas about the dress code for admitted student days?? Unless there's a specific fancy event, I think jeans and a nice top and shoes is fine. You're already in, the school is trying to woo you.tappatappatappa wrote:Any ideas about the dress code for admitted student days?? I'm planning on wearing a skirt or dress and boots, business casual emphasis on the casual. It's not like we're being interviewed, but if you're sitting down to meet with a faculty member I personally wouldn't wear jeans.tappatappatappa wrote:Any ideas about the dress code for admitted student days?? Not going to UVA's, but definitely anxious about paying for ASWs. The stipends are nice, but sometimes not even close to enough.zyxwvut2 wrote:Any body else having anxiety over paying for all their ASWs?

And finding the PTO days to go.

I wore jeans (dark) and a sweater with boots when I met with Dean Faulk at UVA. He didn't seem to mind and I was accepted into the class that same day. Don't over think it! I wouldn't advice a suit though. If jeans seem unprofessional to you then go with slacks and a blouse/sweater (make sure to dress for the weather though).clurrburr wrote:I'm planning on wearing a skirt or dress and boots, business casual emphasis on the casual. Hey, I'm in a sorority as well! Love to see all the Greek ladies! So far, haven't had any negative reactions to it being on my resume (I had a few substantial leadership positions so I felt it was worth including), although I've had it brought up in interviews because they seemed genuinely curious about my experiencethetravelinglawyer wrote:Another sorority girl checking in! Hihi! Checking in to this forum. I have lurked for a bit and love that there's a community of dope ladies on TLS. As Beyonce once said, I'm repping for the girls who are taking over the world.
I am going to a reception for admitted students with the NYU dean in my home city (not NY) and am already worried about being over/under dressed. Does anyone have any experience with the dress code for this kind of thing?

I'm going to this as well! I'll be coming straight from work, so I'll wear some form of professional-ish clothing. Probably slacks, blouse, heels. I think wearing jeans would be too casual. If I can find an appropriate professional dress, I'll probably go with that.zinnzinn wrote:Hihi! Checking in to this forum. I'm a southerner in the same boat. I just went shopping yesterday. I bought fleece leggings and sweater dresses. I plan on bringing my uggs and a couple pairs of fashionable boots. I am also not above wearing nice jeans and a sweater.SomeElleWoodsJoke wrote:skimmilk wrote: (make sure to dress for the weather though).
Anyone have suggestions on how to dress for the weather when the weather is 2 feet of snow (as a resident of a snow-free zone)
+ throw in a trip to the Supreme Court in outfit considerations... help.
Bring your thickest jacket, a sweater, and a scarf to put over your clothes and you should be fine.
Good luck!

Also worried about the snow, but I'm from Chicago so I thought I'd mention a few things. I would definitely recommend dressing in layers. While it may be 30 degrees outside, oftentimes they''ll crank the heat indoors. If you're wearing fleece lined leggings I promise you'll overheat! In other circumstances, wearing snow boots and changing into flats once inside would work, but I'm assuming we won't have access to a coat check at SCOTUS.OLitch wrote:I'm a southerner in the same boat. Other than that. I think we should all keep hoping the storm just fizzles out and it only snows a little!
